The certificate course in Fashion and Textiles aims to create among its participants a full understanding of the professional context and practice of fabric design. It intends to maximize participants’ creative and intellectual potential by developing their strength and design philosophy. This program seeks to provide insights and skills into core competencies of the fashion practitioner, which have been categorized according to fabric design, technical and product development competencies.
I. Fashion Textiles I (Fabric Dyeing and Manipulation)
This module is an introduction to Fabric Dyeing and Manipulation. It will provide the students with an in-depth understanding of the importance of textile design from a historical-cultural perspective down to the contemporary social trends, art, fashion, commercial product design and technology. Participants will be encouraged to use their creative talent in fabric design through the craft of dyeing.

II. Fashion Textiles II (Creative Fabric Design and Printing)
This module is designed to create among its participants a full understanding of the fabric design as a process of fashion designing. It will cover introduction to creative fabric design, fabric printing, and textile design influences. The participants will learn necessary skills and knowledge in textile printing, preparing screens and stencils, and preparing and producing woven textiles.

III. Fashion Textiles III (Fabric Construction)
This module is an introduction to Fabric Construction, Weaving, and Knitting. The participants will understand the different fabric construction; necessary skills and knowledge in applying innovation and added value to textile design through fabric construction.

IV. Fashion Textiles Portfolio (The Designer)
The Fashion Textiles Portfolio covers creating design brief, trend forecasts, mood board and developing story board; create prototypes and a finished product in the participants’ elective studio area-print, knit, weave or a combination of two disciplines and determine selling point of product; and fabric design portfolio. This involves participants to group discussion, project presentations and application exercises.
