At Benenden CofE Primary we use the Monster Phonics scheme, we reflect this in our outdoor phonics sessions and base the sessions on the sounds and words the children need help with. We do this by engaging children in games and activities including:
Making words with log slices
Writing in sand, mud, water or other materials
Hopscotch HFWs
Sound scavenger hunt (finding an item to match the sound)
Making spells (adding liquid from containers with letters on to make a word)
HFW hoopla
Sounds hunt (finding the sounds)
Running sounds (running to the sound that is hidden)
Chalk phonics maze
Nature sound walk
Sound sorting with nature items
Water spray the phonics sound
Stick letters/words (making sound or word using sticks)
Phonics relay
Fishing for phonics/HFWs
