The theme for 2025 for Mental Health week is "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself." This initiative is designed to equip and empower children and young people across the UK to embrace self-awareness and explore what it means to them. Throughout the week, our school engaged pupils in activities and discussions that encourage them to reflect on their personal strengths, interests, and values. By fostering a deeper understanding of themselves, we aim to support their personal growth and development.
As part of this celebration, Belswains pupils went on a Wellbeing Wellie Walk. It was not only a fun and relaxing break from the usual routine, but also an opportunity to teach our pupils the importance of taking care of their mental and physical health. Engaging with nature has been shown to reduce stress and improve mood, and we are committed to incorporating more of these activities into our curriculum.
Last Thursday, Year 5 embarked on an exciting adventure to the Science Museum, where learning truly came to life through hands-on exhibits and interactive displays! The students explored the wonders of space, uncovered the secrets of the human body, and experienced science in action. A highlight of the trip was visiting the Wonderlab, where the children engaged in a variety of interactive activities. The day concluded with a spectacular rocket show that left everyone in awe, providing a thrilling end to an unforgettable experience.
This week, our KS2 children were transported into incredible virtual worlds through an exciting VR workshop! Each session was carefully linked to their class topics, making learning truly immersive.
Year 3 experienced the power of nature as they witnessed an erupting volcano in Iceland, while Year 5 traveled back in time to explore the wonders of Ancient Greece. The children were captivated by their virtual adventures and impressed us with their enthusiasm and knowledge.
It was a fantastic experience, and we couldn’t be prouder of how engaged they were throughout the day.
This week we had the pleasure of welcoming a consultant from Read Write Inc to our school. Her visit was part of an audit to review our current practices and provide insights into our teaching methods. We are thrilled to report that she was incredibly impressed with what she observed.
Our staff's delivery of lessons was praised for its commitment and effectiveness. The consultant highlighted the high level of dedication and enthusiasm our team brings to teaching the Read Write Inc programme. She noted that our Reception data was the highest she has ever seen at this point of the year, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our wonderful team.
Moreover, she commended the supportive relationships being built between staff and students, which are crucial to fostering a positive learning environment. It's clear that our passion for education shines through in every lesson.
We are proud of our achievements and are committed to continuing this level of excellence. Thank you for your continued support and trust in us to provide the best education for your children.
We are very excited about seeing all our parents on site next week. For those who are new to our school, we just wanted to give you some guidance on how they work.
Parent/ Teacher consultations take place in your child's classroom.
Parents/ Carers arrive through the main entrances to the buildings (main office/ main doors doors between buildings/ red bridge). Please do not try and enter from the playground directly into the classroom, as you may interrupt someone's meeting.
Your child's books will be the table in the corridor outside your child's classroom. These are for you to look at before your meeting. Chairs are also provided in the corridor.
You will have booked a time and teachers will keep to those times, as we are aware some parents have multiple bookings.
"Too Good to Be True? Protecting yourself and others from scams online."
This February 11th, we are diving into the theme “Too Good to Be True?” for Safer Internet Day 2025. It's a day to help young learners think twice and stay safe in the online world.
Through exciting activities and discussions, children will learn:
How to spot online tricks, scams, and fake offers.
Why not everything they see online is what it seems.
The importance of asking for help when something feels “too good to be true.”
Together, let’s build smarter, safer internet explorers who know how to spot the truth online.
