This week, our talented Key Stage 1 students took to the stage to perform the enchanting Bee Musical for their parents and carers. Each child embraced their role with enthusiasm and dedication, delivering a powerful conservation message through a blend of singing, dancing, and acting.
The performance was not only a visual and auditory delight, but also a heartfelt reminder of the importance of preserving our natural environment. The audience was unanimous in their praise, agreeing that the children did an outstanding job!
We are incredibly proud of our young performers for their hard work and commitment to spreading awareness about conservation. Thank you to all the parents, carers, and staff who supported our children in bringing this important message to life.

This year we celebrated Science week by looking at the theme of Change and Adapt. Many of children created beautiful posters looking at how the seasons change, how animals adapt and how we adapt and change due to our environment. We had two days of work shops for Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Reception and KS1 enjoyed the silly science workshop where Professor Nitrate came to visit. We learnt all about gravity, explosions, chemical reactions and thrust motion.
KS2 became Forensic detectives solving two crimes of a Dog-napping and the stolen money. The children looked for clues and evidence that could be examined. Then collate and interpret their findings to solve the crime.
We are delighted to share that our Year 4 Nightingales had an amazing experience at the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust this past week! The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about the fascinating world of canals and the lives of the people who lived and worked on them.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the boat ride. Amongst the gorgeous sunshine, the children were excited to spot a variety of birds on the water. It was a wonderful chance for them to connect with nature and enjoy the beauty of our local environment.
Our students returned to school with broadened horizons and a deeper appreciation for history and wildlife. It's always delightful to see them learn outside the classroom and have fun at the same time.
One session was looking at the history of how the waterways were used. E.g. to wash clothes.
One session looked at how the canals were built and what the parts of the canal were and their role. E.g. Lock
One session, the children explored what may have been seen near the banks of the canal in previous years and experienced going through a lock.
Year 4 Owls shared so much of their learning this term during their class assembly on the 21st of March. The children did a fantastic job learning their lines and speaking clearly to the audience, showcasing the exciting topics they've been exploring this year.
Their assembly began with a brief history of life in the UK, as part of our Invasion topic. The children narrated the journey from the Anglo-Saxons all the way to the Norman conquest by William the Conqueror, bringing history to life with their engaging storytelling.
Next, they transitioned to our Geography topic, Misty Mountains, Winding Rivers. The students demonstrated their understanding of a river's journey and shared their adventures from our canal trip at Batchworth Lock in Rickmansworth. It was a fun and educational experience for all!
Finally, linking to our Fairy Tale topic, the children showcased their Italian skills, much to the delight of the audience. We are incredibly proud of our Year 4 Owls and their hard work in preparing for this assembly. Thank you to all the parents and guardians for your support and encouragement.
Last Friday, the children at Belswains Primary School took part in a 'Bad Hair Day' to raise money for Comic Relief. There were many crazy and creative hair styles from every year group including the staff. The school council are delighted to announce that the school raised over £300 towards the charity.

Wearing our school uniform not only fosters a strong sense of belonging to our Belswains family, but it also prepares us mentally for a productive day of learning. Moreover, coming to school dressed appropriately can boost self-confidence and enhance well-being.
Thank you for your continued support in maintaining our school’s values and ensuring that every pupil feels proud to be part of our community.
When parking to drop off or pick up pupils, please be mindful not to block driveways or access to properties. Our neighbours and community work with us and support our endeavours so let’s please show them the same respect.
You may have seen in the news recently information about the Governments free breakfast scheme, which has been launched for 750 schools. These 750 schools have been selected to trial the new scheme from April 2025 before it is rolled out across the Country-at a later date. As it stands, we are yet to be advised on anything to do with how the scheme will work or be funded.
What we do know is that is it expected to only cover 30 minutes before the start of school. Given that our offer is currently longer than this, once we get information on how the scheme will be funded, we will let parents/carers know if there will be change to our current offer from September 2025.
We do not expect to receive any further information until late in the summer term at the earliest. Please rest assured it in within our plan to continue to offer a breakfast club from September 2025, it is the funding and/or additional cost of this provision that we are yet to establish.
