World Book Day is a special annual event that celebrates the joy of reading and encourages children to explore the world of books. This year, it was heart warming to see so many of our Belswains children embracing the tradition of dressing up as their favorite book characters, sparking excitement and engagement throughout the day.
One of the highlights of World Book Day was our creative project where teachers and students collaboratively designed and decorated classroom doors with book cover art, illustrations, titles, and characters. This interactive project not only transformed our school environment but also promoted a love for visual storytelling among our pupils.
Additionally, one of the most enriching parts of the day was the sharing of stories between classes. Our children had the opportunity to read their favorite stories to other classes, fostering a sense of community and a shared enthusiasm for reading.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made World Book Day a memorable experience for all!
Today, we bid farewell to Mrs. Laura Stickings. Over the past eight years, Mrs. Stickings has been an integral part of our school community, serving as a Teaching Assistant, Midday Meal Supervisor, and Learning Support Assistant. Her dedication and passion have greatly enriched the lives of our pupils, and she will be dearly missed by students and staff alike.
While it is difficult to see her leave, we are thrilled for Mrs. Stickings as she embarks on a new chapter. She will be joining her children's school as a Teaching Assistant, allowing her to continue her journey in education while being closer to her family.
We wish Mrs. Stickings all the best in her new role and thank her for her unwavering commitment to Belswains. Please join us in expressing our gratitude and best wishes to her.
We are excited to share the success of our second PTA Belswains Bars sale, which was held in conjunction with World Book Day. This event was a delightful addition to our celebrations and brought a lot of joy and excitement to the school community.
Event Highlights
New Ordering System: We introduced a new online ordering and scan-to-check-in collection system, which streamlined the process and made it easier for everyone to participate.
Amazing Sales: We sold an impressive 480 bars! Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
Special Thanks: A big thank you to Mr. Wheeler for his fantastic portrayal of Mr. Wonka. His enthusiasm and dedication added an extra layer of fun to the event.
We appreciate your continued support in making these events a success. The funds raised will go a long way in supporting school projects and enriching our students' learning experiences.
We are delighted to share that our Year 4 Owls had an amazing experience at the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust this past week! The trip was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about the fascinating world of canals and the lives of the people who lived and worked on them.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the boat ride. Despite the chilly weather, the children were excited to spot a variety of birds on the water. It was a wonderful chance for them to connect with nature and enjoy the beauty of our local environment.
Our students returned to school with broadened horizons and a deeper appreciation for history and wildlife. It's always delightful to see them learn outside the classroom and have fun at the same time.
Year 4 had a great time learning how to open the locks on the canal to let barges through.
We also had a boat trip along the canal looking out for different types of birds and trees.
We learnt the history of canals and why they were built.
We went inside a Victorian barge and learnt how boat people used to live.
Our Geography topic is called ‘Misty Mountains and Winding Rivers’. Our young geographers have been delving into the fascinating processes behind the formation of mountains and rivers. This exploration has not only expanded their understanding of natural landscapes but also sparked their creativity in Art.
In our Art sessions, students have been channeling their newfound geographical knowledge into creating detailed mountain sketches. They have been meticulous in capturing the intricate details of these majestic landforms, showing a wonderful blend of scientific understanding and artistic expression.
Furthermore, we are eagerly preparing for an upcoming assembly that promises to be both comical and informative. Our assembly will focus on the crucial topic of the human impact on the Earth's water supply. The children have been enthusiastically rehearsing to deliver an important message about the considerate use of water. Through humour and creativity, they aim to raise awareness and encourage thoughtful conversations at home.
Comic relief 2025 is being celebrated on Friday 21st March 2025. The theme for this year is 'let's celebrate 40 years of going big, giving big and feeling good together'. The School Council would like to raise money for Comic Relief through organising a 'bad hair day'. On this day, children can come to school wearing their hair in any crazy way that they would like e.g. temporary hair dye, back-comb etc for a small contribution. Please can the children bring their donations into school on the day.
Thank you
The School Council
Join Us for a SEN Coffee afternoon!
We warmly invite all parents to our upcoming Coffee Afternoon. This is a relaxed and informal opportunity to meet with Mrs Jones, our Special Educational Needs Coordinator, and other parents. It’s a chance to discuss any concerns, share experiences, and learn more about the support available for your child.
Whether you have questions about SEN provision, would like to connect with other families, or just want to enjoy a cup of coffee, we’d love to see you there. We believe that working together can make a positive impact on every child's learning journey.

If you have anything at home that you feel may be suitable, please drop to the school office and we'll distribute across the school. Thank you.
You may have seen in the news recently information about the Governments free breakfast scheme, which has been launched for 750 schools. These 750 schools have been selected to trial the new scheme from April 2025 before it is rolled out across the Country-at a later date. As it stands, we are yet to be advised on anything to do with how the scheme will work or be funded.
What we do know is that is it expected to only cover 30 minutes before the start of school. Given that our offer is currently longer than this, once we get information on how the scheme will be funded, we will let parents/carers know if there will be change to our current offer from September 2025.
We do not expect to receive any further information until late in the summer term at the earliest. Please rest assured it in within our plan to continue to offer a breakfast club from September 2025, it is the funding and/or additional cost of this provision that we are yet to establish.
