I hope you've had a restful and enjoyable break. As we step into the summer term, we're excited to embrace the warmer weather and the many exciting activities we have lined up for our pupils at Belswains Primary School.
Exciting Plans Ahead
We have a host of events planned for the term, designed to enrich our students' learning experiences and create lasting memories. From sports day to school trips, and special assemblies to VE Day celebrations, there's something for everyone.
Stay Informed
To help you keep track of all the upcoming events, please refer to the 'Diary Dates' drop down section below. It's updated regularly to ensure you don't miss out on any important dates.
We appreciate your continued support and involvement in our school community. If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Here's to a successful and sunny summer term!
Despite the challenging weather conditions, our brilliant football team showcased their skills and determination, winning 3 out of 4 matches in a recent competition with other local schools.
We are incredibly proud of their teamwork and the way they supported each other throughout the day.
Thank you to Miss Sears and Miss Bradbury for organising and well done to everyone involved!
We are delighted to inform you that offers for our Reception classes starting in September 2025 have been sent to families on 16th April. We hope you are as excited as we are to welcome your child into our school community.
Action Required
To secure your child's place, please ensure you accept the offer online through the county's admission portal by the deadline of 2nd May. It is crucial to meet this deadline, as any unaccepted places will be reallocated to other applicants.
We will be celebrating VE (Victory in Europe) Day 80th celebration on Thursday 8th May 2025. VE Day 80 is not only a tribute to those who fought for the freedom we all enjoy today, but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.
This special event will be a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn and reflect while enjoying a fun-filled afternoon. Children are welcome to come dressed in 1940s-style clothing or wear red, white, and blue to mark the occasion.
We are excited to announce that all afterschool clubs will commence the week of Monday, 28th April and will run through to the week commencing Monday, 14th July, spanning a total of 11 weeks. Please note that there will be no clubs during the half-term week or on a Bank Holiday.
Club Timings: All afterschool clubs will end at 16.15, unless specified otherwise. For your child's safety, club staff will only release pupils when their parents or guardians are present. We kindly ask parents to introduce themselves to the club staff to facilitate a smooth pick-up process.
External Club Providers: For clubs organised by external companies, please refer to their specific leaflets attached at the bottom of this page for more detailed information.
We are delighted to continue our initiative of providing a free breakfast bagel to every pupil at the start of the school day. This initiative is part of our commitment to ensuring all our pupils attend school, have a nutritious breakfast, and are ready to engage in learning.
Research shows that having a healthy breakfast has a profound impact on children's readiness to start the day. It not only fuels their bodies but also supports the development of healthy eating habits, enhances social skills, and improves focus in class.
By enjoying breakfast together, pupils have the opportunity to develop social skills and connect with their peers in a supportive environment, setting a positive tone for the day ahead.
We believe that this initiative is a step towards nurturing our children's well-being and academic success. Thank you for your continued support in making Belswains Primary School a place where every child can thrive.
On Tuesday 22nd April, it was World Earth Day.
To celebrate this we will be holding an assembly on Tuesday 29th April where we will share with the children the importance of looking after our Earth.
Within this assembly, your child will be encouraged to design a poster at home persuading other people to help look after the Earth. This years theme is 'Our Planet, Our Power', thinking about using less fossil fuels.
The following link has some useful tips that your child could include in their poster: https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-tips/
All entries must be handed into your child's class teacher by Monday 28th April.
The winners will be announced in next weeks assembly and will be displayed around the school.
I'm very excited to be running the London marathon this Sunday joining 56,000 other people.
I am raising money for the charity Whizz Kidz. They enable children and young wheel chair users to get the equipment, skills and confidence to live as independently as possible. An estimated 75,000 young people in the UK need a wheel chair to be mobile.
I enjoy the challenge running brings, and look forward to sharing this experience with the children and staff at Belswains School.
