Christmas Wish
As we close the term, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support. We are incredibly proud of our pupils—not just for their academic achievements but also for embodying our core values of kindness, respect, courage, and health. It is truly a privilege to work with such an outstanding group of children.
The past few weeks have been a wonderful blend of learning and festive preparations. Today, your child will be bringing home some beautiful homemade Christmas gifts, crafted with love for the special people in their lives. There is a little sneak peek below of their amazing creations.
Our Christmas performances have been a highlight of the term, with pupils excelling in each one. The feedback from families and members of the public has been overwhelmingly positive, praising how much our pupils are a credit to their school and families.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to welcoming everyone back on 7th January 2025, ready for another exciting term of learning and fun!
iROCK Christmas Concert
The iRock Christmas concert was a resounding success at Belswains Primary School, filling the halls with festive cheer and familiar tunes. We were thrilled to witness performances from five talented bands who played their hearts out to an enthusiastic audience of fans, friends, and family.
Each band brought their unique flair to the stage, performing beloved songs that had everyone tapping their feet and singing along. The energy in the room was electric, and the dedication and talent of our young musicians truly shone through.
We've celebrated the season with a whole host of performances, plays and sing-a-longs. Thank you for coming along and watching the children perform. Christmas really is such a magical time in primary school.
Nursery were incredible with their sing-a-long session. It takes a lot for any children to be up on stage, even more so when you're 3 and 4!
Whoops-a-Daisy Angel
Our Reception's Christmas production of "Whoops-a-Daisy Angel" was a wonderful event! The children performed beautifully, showcasing their talent and hard work. Each one remembered their lines perfectly and looked spectacular in their costumes, truly bringing the story to life.
The school hall was packed with enthusiastic parents and families, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. We are so proud of our young stars and grateful to all the staff and volunteers who supported this event. A special thank you goes to everyone who helped make this production a memorable experience for our pupils and audience alike.
KS2 Carol Concert at St Mary's Church
We are thrilled to share that our KS2 Carol Concert at St Mary's Church was simply magical. It was a beautiful blend of traditional and modern hymns, creating an enchanting atmosphere for all who attended. The church was packed, and it was heart warming to see the audience enjoying every moment of the performance.
The dedication and talent of our pupils shone through, as they sang with passion and joy. A special thank you goes out to Miss Finn, Mrs Raffety and the KS2 staff who worked hard to organize this wonderful event. Your efforts truly made the concert a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Thank you to all the parents, carers, and community members who joined us for this festive celebration. Your support and encouragement mean the world to us and our pupils.
Our Partnership with the Salvation Army
At Belswains Primary School, we recognize that Christmas is a special time for helping others and bringing joy to our community. We are delighted to continue our partnership with the Salvation Army, who have once again generously given back to those in need. This week received 69 parcels of new gifts that will support families this holiday.
Thank you to Mrs Maher and the office team for organising this.
SANTA RUN
In the race to become more active, the children have taken part in a whole school festive Santa run as part of our Daily Mile challenge.
We were lucky as the rain held off, so all classes got the opportunity to run around our site, in Christmas jumpers.
There are many reasons why access to the outside should be championed, but the relationship between mental health and nature is one of the most compelling. At Belswains, we promote being outside and would encourage families to take walks together over the Christmas break.
The children had a brilliant time and it was so lovely to see them encouraging each other through the run.
Choir at Tesco
Our talented school choir left shoppers in awe as they performed at Tesco (Jarman Park) this week.
Their captivating performance held the audience's attention, showcasing their Christmas songs, festive cheer and passion for music.
A member of the public commented on how magical it was to hear children singing at Christmas, something they don't hear very often any more.
We are delighted to announce that all 11 members of our Boxing Club have passed their recent assessment with flying colours! Congratulations to each and every one of them for their hard work and dedication. Special thanks to Ethan for his excellent coaching and support. Keep up the fantastic work, everyone!
Congratulations Sienna, who has been awarded the prestigious Student of the Year trophy at the Total TKD Club! This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to Sienna's hard work and dedication to martial arts.
In addition, we're proud to share that Sienna also secured a silver medal at the recent championship competition held last weekend. Her success was matched by her fellow students, with Summayah earning a gold medal and Noor also winning a silver medal.
These accomplishments highlight the dedication and talent of our students, and we are incredibly proud of their success.
Staffing Updates- January 2025
As we embark on a new term, I wanted to take a moment to share some staffing updates at Belswains Primary School. Our dedicated team continues to strive for excellence, and we are excited to announce several changes that will enhance our school's leadership and support structures.

We bid farewell to Mrs. L Russell and Ms. E Ellis, who are leaving the Belswains team. We thank them for their hard work and dedication and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
We are confident that these updates will further strengthen our school's ability to provide an excellent education for all our pupils. Thank you for your continued support and engagement with our school community.
We are excited to share some news regarding our school menu. Two years ago, we introduced a Halal option on Wednesdays, allowing pupils to enjoy a Halal chicken roast. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're pleased to announce that we will be expanding our Halal offerings.
Starting January 2025, in addition to our existing vegetarian, jacket potato, and baguette options, we will be introducing a Halal meal choice on a second day each week. Here’s what you can expect:
Week 1 Monday: Halal Chicken Grill
Wednesday: Halal Chicken Roast
Week 2 - Wednesday: Halal Chicken Roast
Thursday: Halal Beef Burger
Week 3 - Monday: Halal Chicken Sausage
Wednesday: Halal Chicken Roast
Pupils will order in the morning in their class. We believe that offering a diverse menu is important to meet the needs of our pupils and ensure that everyone has access to meals that align with their dietary preferences and cultural practices. We hope these new options will continue to make lunchtime enjoyable for all our students.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming these new additions to our school menu!

Please be reminded that we are a nut free school. For those families that may not have allergies in their households, this includes Nutella and Pesto. Whilst your child may not have allergies, we encourage socialising over lunchtime, so our pupils sit with their friends while eating in the Bistro. However, we have several pupils with severe allergies, requiring the use of Epi-Pens, so it is of upmost importance that we all adhere to a nut free environment.
We still have some spaces available on our Spring term afterschool clubs. Please log onto Arbor to book. The deadline to sign up for clubs is Sunday 5th January at 18.00.
It is extremely important that you keep your child's details up to date on Arbor, this includes any medical conditions, contact numbers and addresses. Please could we ask that you log in and check if all the information you have provided is still up to date over the summer. Any changes can be made directly on Arbor.
We wanted to remind you about our pedestrian gates opening policy for pick-up times at Belswains Primary School. The pedestrian gates will be opened at 15:10. This timing is deliberate and allows parents and carers a full 5 minutes to walk to their child's classroom. The reasons for keeping our gates closed until this time are as follows:
Site Security We prioritise the safety and security of our pupils and staff.
Uninterrupted Learning Lessons and educational activities are conducted outside until 15:10. As you can imagine, the presence of parents and younger siblings can be exciting and potentially distracting during lesson time.
We sincerely appreciate your ongoing cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a secure and conducive learning environment.
A reminder also that due to lighting, the Great Elms entrance will be locked daily from 16.30 during the Autumn/Winter months. Collection from Good Shepherd club will be via the Barnfield entrance until 18.00.
