Today, Mrs Attanasio led a meaningful assembly focused on Remembrance Day. The children learned about the significance of this day to honour and remember those who have served.
We invite all students and staff to join us in observing a 2-minute silence on Monday, 11th November, at 11:00 AM in Belswains Primary School. This moment of reflection is a heartfelt tradition, and we encourage everyone to participate.
A big thank you to all the students who contributed their beautiful artwork. We are proud to display these pieces in our school hall, showcasing the creativity and thoughtfulness of our pupils.
We would like to extend a thank you to all the parents and carers who have taken the time to complete our survey. So far this year, our Governors have received 85 responses. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us to continue improving our school.
For those who haven't yet had the chance to participate, we can only assume that you are satisfied with the wonderful offerings and environment here at Belswains Primary School. However, your input is invaluable to us, and it's not too late to have your say! If you would like to complete the survey, please click on the link below:

Your feedback is crucial in helping us make Belswains Primary School an even better place for our pupils to learn and grow. Thank you for your continued support!
We wanted to remind you about our pedestrian gate opening policy for pick-up times at Belswains Primary School. The pedestrian gates will be opened at 15:10. This timing is deliberate and allows parents and carers a full 5 minutes to walk to their child's classroom. The reasons for keeping our gates closed until this time are as follows:
Site Security We prioritise the safety and security of our pupils and staff.
Uninterrupted Learning Lessons and educational activities are conducted outside until 15:10. As you can imagine, the presence of parents and younger siblings can be exciting and potentially distracting during lesson time.
We sincerely appreciate your ongoing cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a secure and conducive learning environment.
A reminder also that due to lighting, the Great Elms entrance will be locked daily from 16.30 during the Autumn/Winter months. Collection from Good Shepherd club will be via the Barnfield entrance until 18.00.
At Belswains Primary School, we are proud to be part of the Dacorum School Sports Network, an initiative dedicated to promoting school sport, physical activity, and physical education across primary and secondary schools in Dacorum.
Cross Country Success for Years 5 and 6!
Before the half-term break, our enthusiastic Year 5 and Year 6 pupils participated in an exciting cross country event hosted at Longdean Secondary School. This event was not just a celebration of fitness and teamwork, but also an essential step in supporting our pupils' transition into local secondary schools. The cross country provided an excellent opportunity for our students to meet peers from other schools, fostering a sense of community. We are incredibly proud of all our pupils who participated and demonstrated such great sportsmanship and determination.
Looking Ahead
We look forward to more sporting events and activities through the Dacorum School Sports Network, as we continue to encourage a love for physical activity and the development of healthy habits among our pupils.
Keep an eye out for more updates on our future sporting events!
As our school continues to grow, we are always looking for ways to ensure that all our pupils have a positive and enriching experience during lunchtime. With this in mind, we're thrilled to announce some exciting changes to our lunchtime arrangements.
New Lunchtime Organisation To accommodate our increasing number of pupils, we've made adjustments to our lunchtime schedule. This will ensure that every child has the opportunity to enjoy their meal in the hall comfortably and make the most of their playtime outdoors.
Enhancing Outdoor Play We're committed to making our outdoor play area as engaging and fun as possible. After receiving a wonderful suggestion from pupils Ted, Dylan and Ayaan, we have used a portion of our sports premium grant to purchase 8 new scooters. Additionally, we've had exercise lines painted outside the MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) to encourage active play.
Involving Our School Council We believe in the power of pupil voices and will be seeking further ideas from our School Council. Their input will help us continue to enhance our school's facilities and ensure that our pupils have the best possible environment to learn and grow.
A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA for buying us two new rugs for our Reception classes. These were funded from some of the proceeds from the Halloween Disco, so thank you to everyone who bought tickets and snacks. The children were so excited to see the new cute woodlands animals to sit on! They really brighten the rooms. We are hoping to replace rugs across KS1, so this is a great kick start to that process.
We are delighted to express our gratitude to one of our dedicated parents who took the time over the half term to plant bulbs along our footpath. This thoughtful gesture will surely brighten our school environment as we look forward to seeing them sprout this Spring.
Thank you for helping make Belswains Primary School a more beautiful place for all our pupils, staff and parents!
We were delighted to see that Willow in Year 1 has been recognised for her hard work, litter picking in the local area. Her classmates erupted into a well deserved round of applause when they were shown what she's been up to. Keep up the great work Willow!
If it's something you'd like to get involved with, you can find out more information from Dacorum here: Community litter picks
We are incredibly proud to share that three of our talented pupils, Issy, Matilda & Sienna had the extraordinary opportunity to perform on stage at Disneyland Paris over the half-term.
As part of the Bovingdon Dance Academy, they performed on stage in front of a packed audience. Issy demonstrated exceptional professionalism throughout the entire experience, growing in confidence with each rehearsal. Matilda, one of the youngest members of the squad, showcased her courage by mastering new dance steps and performing fearlessly in front of a large audience. Sienna was enthusiastic and confident in the squad and was also selected to be part of Tring Park Ballet Associates earlier this year too.
At Belswains Primary School, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded pupils, and this event is yet another brilliant example of the diverse talents of our students. Congratulations to Issy, Matilda & Sienna for this incredible achievement!
Mrs Claridge has started the school tours this term for our September 2025 intake. Please contact the office on admin@belswains.herts.sch.uk if you would like to come and see all the amazing things we do at Belswains Primary school. Applications for Reception places opened on Tuesday 1st November.
The lost property bin located by the school office is overflowing. If you are looking for items, please do come and have a rummage! All items from last half term will be donated to the PTA on Monday 18th November. Please do label items in school, so we can endeavor to reunite items with pupils.
Congratulations to all the pupils who received a certificate in assembly, staff have noticed you doing something above and beyond!
