Madrigal Singers

Description: The Madrigal Singers is a premiere vocal ensemble of 14-20 members, which performs a wide variety of a cappella repertoire, focusing on period-appropriate renaissance madrigals, motets, and carols. The Madrigal Singers are well known throughout Belmont for their activity during the Holiday season, primarily at the town Tree Lighting and other caroling appearances throughout Belmont, Cambridge, and Watertown. This ensemble rehearses weekly during the Fall in preparation for a rigorous performance season in December.

Who can audition: Students grades 9-12 who are enrolled in curricular chorus, band, or orchestra at BHS. *exceptions will be made to students who could not fit an ensemble into their schedule but can provide a written reference from a voice/instrumental private teacher or theatre director/coach with contact information. If you are struggling to fulfill this requirement, please come speak with Ms. Donovan in person!

What to audition with: Please sing approximately 1 minute of a piece of Choral music, Classical Music, Art Song, Christmas Carol, or a Madrigal. This may be accompanied OR unaccompanied. Please select a piece of music that showcases your classical vocal skills. A Christmas carol is absolutely fine for this. 

Audition details: Auditions will be IN-PERSON. Please sign up for a time on THIS document to meet with Ms. Donovan. Take a look at your schedule and come if you have a free block during one of the available slots or come to an after school time. These auditions will be required for new as well as returning members. If one of the times does not work for you, please contact Ms. Donovan to organize a time that does work. PRIOR to your audition, please complete this AUDITION FORM (also required for returning members). Please note that ALL NEW AND RETURNING MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO AUDITION FOR MADRIGAL SINGERS THIS SEASON!
