SEGL: School for Ethics & Global Leadership (Washington, DC & Johannesburg, South Africa

From the Belmont Hill Student-Parent Handbook (SY25-26)
Any student and their family, thinking about one of the Study Away programs must notify the Director of Global Experiences in writing by February 15. The administration will consider the proposal in accordance with School policy. Students must demonstrate their ability to meet School academic requirements.
Students granted a leave for a Study Away program are required to pay no tuition beyond the 10% non-refundable enrollment deposit, which will be credited towards tuition upon return. Tuition and fees will be adjusted on a pro rata basis for one semester programs. School-granted tuition assistance will be applied to the cost of Belmont Hill Study Away programs. Although the School will work with students and their families who request a leave after the dates noted above, we cannot guarantee that a leave will be granted due to enrollment considerations.
Students wishing to spend a semester or a year studying in a program (other than a Belmont Hill-approved Study Away program) should notify the Director of Enrollment in writing by February 15. In addition, families should have a conversation with the Dean of Academic Affairs and their Division Head (Director of Upper School or Director of Middle School) in order to coordinate an academic program that is minimally disruptive and meets the School’s curricular requirements. Participation in an individualized program may have an impact on course placement upon the student’s return, which is solely at the discretion of the School.
Tuition and fees will be adjusted on a pro rata basis and will include a 25% charge to hold the student’s place in the Form and to provide ongoing transitional support during the student’s absence. School-granted tuition assistance cannot be applied to any such programs.
