JH General Information
Grade 6
In grade 6, students have seven required courses and one additional elective choice as listed in the requirements below.
Grade 7
In grade 7, students have six required courses, a choice of one Exploring Pathways Course, and one additional elective choice as listed in the requirements below.
Grade 8
In grade 8, students have five required courses, a choice of one Exploring Pathways Course, and two additional elective choices as listed in the requirements below.
Exploring Pathways
Students in 7th and 8th grade, as mentioned above, will choose courses that will assist them in exploring the different options that the BISD pathways provide for the students. The students can then in high school choose programs of study to work towards building expertise within these pathways. Visit the Academies home page to learn more about the Pathways available in Bellville ISD. The Exploring Pathways course options currently available for 7th and 8th grade learners are listed below.

Special Notes regarding Athletics and Band:
Athletics - Grade 7
Students in grade 7 Athletics will select Athletics - Social & Emotional Well-Being in addition to Athletics as their PE/Athletics course. This will allow the students to meet each day of the alternating block schedule ("double blocked").
Athletics - Grade 8
Students in grade 8 Athletics will select Athletics - Personal Health & Wellness in addition to Athletics as their PE/Athletics course. This will allow the students to meet each day of the alternating block schedule ("double blocked").
Band - Grade 6
Students in grade 6 band will select band as their fine arts course and as their elective choice. This will allow the students to meet each day of the alternating block scheduled ("double blocked"). Students who would like to also explore another Fine Arts course may have the opportunity to participate in the Art Club or Theatre Arts Club during Flex Period (club participation and availability is based on student interests and staff availability).
Band - Grade 7
Students in grade 7 band will select Band - Social & Emotional Well-Being in addition to band for their one elective choice. This will allow the students to meet each day of the alternating block schedule ("double blocked"). Students who would like to also explore another Fine Arts course may have the opportunity to participate in the Art Club or Theatre Arts Club during Flex Period (club participation and availability is based on student interests and staff availability).
Band - Grade 8
Students will select band for their two elective choices ("double blocked"). Students who would like to also explore another Fine Arts course may have the opportunity to participate in the Art Club or Theatre Arts Club during Flex Period (club participation and availability is based on student interests and staff availability).
Students in both Band and Athletics - Grade 7 or Grade 8
Students will be double blocked for both band and athletics. Students will not have the opportunity to choose an Exploring Pathway course. Students will explore multiple pathways during select 6-week periods during Flex Period. The schedule will be determined by BJH administration.
