Marie Swanholm

My career here at Burke School started when I was a Kindergartener. Yes! I attended Burke back before I started teaching. When I graduated Rider University I subbed in many districts including Bellmawr. I started at Burke in 1997 as a First Grade teacher. I taught for 18 years in First Grade and then decided to move to BSI/Intervention for both reading and math. I have been in this position for 6 years and absolutely love it! My heart has also been in First Grade and that is the current level I work with.

The year I started teaching is also the same year I got married to my husband Paul. I have two boys, Tyler (20years old) and Ryan (16 years old). Tyler is now a sophomore at RCBC and is studying Music/Sound engineering. Ryan is a Junior in High School, loves history, swimming and shot put. Both of my boys are Scouts. Tyler made Eagle last summer and Ryan will be achieving that rank in the next year.

During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to camp, hike and ride bikes. When I am not with my family I enjoy reading, crafting and working at a winery learning about as many different wines and the process of how they are made.

I believe all children deserve the best education and I am always looking for the best way to meet each child's needs and ways of learning. Even as an adult, I am always seeking new ways to learn how to be the best teacher I can be for all my students.
