Education: I first attended Cumberland County College to earn my Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. From there I transferred to Richard Stockton University and earned my Bachelor's of Arts in Performance Design and Directing. I completed the Alternate Route for teaching while working in a 1st grade classroom. Then I went back for my Master's of Science in Education with specializations in Reading and Mathematics at Walden University. While working in various elementary positions I earned my Supervisor and Principals certifications thru the NJ Excel Program. I love to learn!
Teaching Experience: In 2004 I began substitute teaching and worked as a long term substitute for Bilingual Kindergarten, Spanish, and 5th grade. In 2007 I began teaching full time as a 1st grade teacher. In 2008 I taught 3rd grade. From 2009-2012 I was back with 1st grade. In 2013 I transitioned to 2nd grade. In 2019 I became the 3rd grade Resource teacher. Then took a break in 2020 to have my son. In 2023 I began substituting for Bellmawr schools. For the 2024-2025 school year I was the In-Class Support teacher for 7th and 8th grade Math and Science.
Education Philosophy: I believe education isn’t just about what students learn but about learning how to learn. Anyone can memorize information, but learning how to research and find answers independently is empowering. I will equip students with strategies and skills to create questions and find answers. I will often utilize project-based learning in my classroom because I believe it helps students make deeper connections to the curriculum and encourages them to take ownership of their learning. When students work together, it promotes communication and critical thinking abilities as well. It is important for students to be a part of their own learning process, and I am all about students advocating for themselves. I am looking forward to being an encouraging support for all.
Fun stuff: I love sports and enjoy watching and going to games. Go Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies! I'm a big fan of frequenting the Jersey shore and love North Wildwood. Chocolate and Coke Zero are my favs. I'm obsessed with my son, and have a supportive husband. I love teaching and am excited to be a part of the Bellmawr School Community.
