Hello! My name is Ms. Fooks, and I am so thrilled to be joining the Bell Oaks family this school year as the 5th/6th grade School Counselor! A little bit about me... I grew up in Washington Township and recently settled into my first home in Washington Township this past summer. After graduating from Washington Township High School, I furthered my education at Rowan University, earning dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Elementary Education and English. My commitment to supporting students led me to attend Wilmington University, where I earned my Master of Education in Elementary and Secondary School Counseling. My education has allowed me to work in a variety of settings and positions, having experience in K-12 as a paraprofessional, daily substitute, classroom teacher, coach, and school counselor. All of these experiences have enhanced my love for education and supporting all students in becoming the best version of themselves!
In my free time, I love traveling to new places, playing and coaching volleyball, relaxing by the pool or beach, baking, and enjoying every moment with my family and friends. I am also getting married towards the end of this year, so if you see my name change, it is still me! :)

My Counseling Philosophy
From a young age, I have been drawn to a career centered on empowering children to reach their fullest potential. My mission is to serve as a role model and a dependable pillar of support for all students, ensuring they always have someone to count on. When it comes to my personal counseling philosophy, I believe all students have the right to learn in a safe and nurturing environment. All students should be treated with respect and have equitable access to a comprehensive school counseling program. Every student carries unique strengths, potential, and challenges, in which the school counselor should be prepared to help the student best navigate in order to maximize their academic, social, and emotional success. My counseling approach is student-centered and solution-focused, emphasizing the importance of self-resilience and a growth mindset. My goal is to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where all students feel valued, respected, and understood, no matter what their situation may be. I recognize the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities of each student and honor their individuality.
I am committed to fostering the academic success, personal growth, and overall well-being of each student I encounter. Through building positive relationships with students, families, educators, and community stakeholders alike, I strive to create a supportive network that promotes the success of all students. Collaboration and communication are key in addressing the diverse needs of each student and promoting a culture of learning and growth.
In summary, my school counseling philosophy is grounded in a deep respect for the worth of each individual I encounter. I am dedicated to fostering a supportive and empowering environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, ultimately preparing them to become responsibile citizens and lifelong learners in our ever-changing world.
