6th Grade

Team Expectations

  • Be respectful. Do NOT interfere with another student's right to learn.

  • Come to class prepared with ALL of the necessary materials, including a CHARGED chromebook.

  • Be in your seat and ready to learn when the bell rings.

  • Follow directions the first time they are given.

  • Raise your hand to speak and wait to be called upon.

  • Keep your hands, feet and possessions to yourself.

  • Mobile phones must be kept in your locker during the school day.

RestROOM/Hall Pass Policy

6th Grade Students will be given a Hallway Passport at the beginning of each quarter. The students must have this passport punched by a teacher to leave the classroom. For each quarter, there will be a minimum of 18 punches on each passport.

  • Students should return from the restroom/hall within 4 minutes.

  • Only ONE replacement for lost Hallway Passports will be issued to students.

  • Students may NOT use a Hallway Passport that belongs to another student.

  • Students with medical emergencies (i.e., vomiting, diarrhea) may leave the room WITHOUT stopping to have their Hallway Passport punched.

**Exceptions to the restroom policy will only be made with a doctor's excuse.

HOMEWORK Policy

Each teacher on the team may have his or her own procedure for collecting homework; however, homework is LATE if it is not ready to be turned in at the time a teacher expects it.

Late Homework Consequences:

1st Day Late = 10% off score

2nd Day Late = 50% off score

3rd Day Late = 0 (no credit for the assignment)

We no longer have assignment books. Students will have to keep track of their own assignments or refer to the digital sheet below.

Student Absences

Students are responsible for obtaining their assignments--digital and/or hard copies--from teachers immediately upon returning to school after an absence. Students must access their assignments on Google Classroom or by checking their weekly assignment sheet in Google Drive or our team website daily.

If you know in advance that your child will not be present in school, please let the school (and team) know as soon as possible.

Attendance is extremely important to your child's success. Please see the Bellevue Middle School Student Handbook for more information regarding student absences.

Detention/Office REferrals

The 6th grade team will follow the Bellevue Middle School Student Code of Conduct.

Detentions and office referrals are at the discretion of the individual teacher. Detention is held at BMS on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Parents must sign the back of the detention slip with written confirmation about how the student will get home afterward.

Rules for Detention

  • Detention starts PROMPTLY at 2:45pm and ends at 3:30pm; if you are late, you may not be permitted to stay.

  • Detention is held in Mrs. Mrs. Pickard's room (B106).

  • NO CELL PHONES ARE PERMITTED

  • Students must bring something to do that will fill their 45 minutes. Chromebooks are only allowed with a note from a teacher.

  • Students may NOT talk or interact/disrupt others at any time.

  • Students who cannot follow the Rules for Detention will be escorted out and their time served does NOT count; they will have to serve another day.

Student Email

Each student has a school-issued email address. This email address should be used for school-related correspondence only; it should NOT be connected to any social media or personal information of any kind.

Students are expected to check their email DAILY. Assignments--via Google Classroom--and other important announcements will be sent to this email account.
