BCSD Counselors' Corner: Spring Edition

Ah, Spring. What a great time to be kind!

#JustBeKind is an online initiative by Values In Action. They believe that kindness, caring, and compassion can help us through this difficult time. By being kind, you can help reduce stress, stay connected to others, and remind others that there is still goodness in the world!

Take the pledge to be kind! Click here to sign the pledge and to make the commitment to be someone who, even during this challenging time, will lead with kindness and choose to lift others up.

Did you know that it takes five positive interactions to counteract one negative interaction? Check out the kindness examples below, then think of some of your own examples!

  • Write positive chalk messages on the sidewalk

  • Paint and leave kindness stones at the park

  • Send a positive text message to five people - right now!

  • Make someone laugh

  • Feed the birds

  • Leave happy notes around your neighborhood

  • Write thank you notes for your mail carrier

  • Tell someone why they are special to you

Sometimes Kindness can be as simple as a text message, an email, or a phone call. However, there's nothing better than seeing your friends or family FACE to FACE!

It's important to take advantage of the various video chat services during this time so you can see others. Not just your family and friends, but your teachers and school counselors, as well.

If you need help academically or emotionally, reach out to your teachers and school counselors. We are happy to meet with you via. Zoom or Google Meets. Be sure to stay active and participate during class by attending your class' video meetings - your teachers and classmates want to see you!!
