Below are some activities you can complete based on stories that you read on Epic Books (or, alternatively, on any book that you read):
Create an avatar of a character in a story using avatarmaker.com and write a description of that character based on what you know about them from the story.
Create a digital storyboard, outlining the main parts of the story. You insert a Google image and then type underneath.
Complete thesaurus activity based on a story you read using the online thesaurus. In the first column write a word from your story and in the second column write to synonyms (words that mean the same or similar).
Character Analysis on a character from a book that you have read.
Character Study on a character from a book that you have read.
Problem Analysis on a story that you have read.
Fact File on a non-fiction text that you have read. In each box of the grid, record a fact that you have learned about that topic.
Before and After chart relating to a non-fiction text that you have read. List what you know about the topic before you read in the "before" column and then add your new learning after reading in the "after" column.
Narrative Outline for a story you have read.
Character Rating Chart based on the characters in a book that you have read.
Character Grid Organiser based on the characters in a book that you have read.
Predict and Check Chart based on the vocabulary in a book that you have read.
PMI Chart based on a topic you have read about.
Interview a Character - write 5 interview questions that you could ask a character from the story and give a response for each of these which you think the character may have given
Use Google slides or Google drawings to create a scene/setting from the story and explain the importance of this to the storyline.
Sensory Chart - descriptions from the story that involve the five senses.
Grade a Character - give a character a grade out of 10 for each of the listed traits and give an explanation.
Think About the Theme - answer questions regarding the theme of your story.
Actions and Consequences Chart - list the actions/events from the text and explain the consequence of these,
Use the website voki.com to create a character from a story you have read. You can add audio for the character to either talk about or introduce themselves or to talk about an event that happened in the story. Alternatively, you could create a news presenter who talks about an incident or event that happened in the story.
