The Guiding Principles include the welcoming and celebration of the challenges of educating a variety of committed Jewish families who approach Jewish texts and practices from multiple perspectives.
In 1st grade, we present our students with their first Jewish text--their siddur! Before this incredible milestone there is a lot of study in school, and at home, about the different texts of tefillah for different families. Our primary goal is to communicate respect for different choices while coming together to pray as a community.
Our first year of B'nai Mitzvah celebrations at Beit Rabban were remarkable for the continuation of embracing diversity in practice while maintaining community celebration. It continues to be our value and goal to be able to bring our entire community together in inclusive yet diverse celebrations.
At Beit Rabban, partnership with parents is vital to our work, and our commitment to that partnership implies an adherence to continued and in-depth communication with families.
Education is a partnership between home and school which means parent communication is vital. Documentation takes place in many ways at Beit Rabban. Class Journals are one important way we document and communicate with parents. Journal frequency ranges from daily in the Gan to weekly (and written by students) in the Middle School.
