Spelling Words

Phonics sounds & skills: Long vowel u like in flute and use. Long vowel e like in eve. Magic e is at the end which makes vowels  say their name. 

Irregular/High Frequency Words: Students will use these words in sentences on the test.

Comprehension skill: Compare and Contrast: (compare tells how things are alike; contrast tells how they are different.  Words such as both, like, and as can help readers compare information.  Words such as but and unlike can help readers contrast information.)

Conventions skill:  Singular and Compound Subjects The subject of a sentence is who or what the sentence is about. A singular subject has one noun. A compound subject has two or more nouns.

Math skill:  We will use strategies including counting on, doubles, doubles plus 1, and missing addend equations to solve addition and subtraction problems.  We will complete addition and subtraction equations to solve word problems. 

Social Science/Social Studies Skills:  In Social Science, we will continue our study of Camouflage and Animal Survival, where we will learn why camouflage is helpful to animals to survival.  In Social Studies,  we will continue our study of Chapter 2-Louisiana’s Geography, where we will learn why bridges and levees are important in our state.                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Homework: *All homework must be completed at home and turned in the next day!

This week we will take our Fluency Check Assessment!
