Spelling Words

Phonics sounds & skills: aw, au, augh The vowel team AW usually comes in the middle of a word like in lawn and hawk. AW can also come at the end like in paw and law or at the beginning like in awe. AU comes in the middle of a word like in haul and fault. AUGH comes in the middle of the word like in caught.  

Irregular/High Frequency Words: Students will use words in sentences on the test.

Comprehension skill: Sequence Events in a story happen in a certain order or sequence. Good readers pay attention to the sequence in which things happen because it helps them understand the story.Clue words like first, next, and last help readers figure out the sequence. 

Conventions skill:  Adjectives- words that tell about nouns. Adjectives tell what people, places, animals, and things are like. They can tell color, size, shape, and many other things. Green, big, and round are adjectives. 

Math skill: We will count on from any number on the 120 chart.  We will identify missing numbers in a sequence within 120. We will count by 10s within 120.

Social Science/Social Studies Skills:  In Social Science,  we will continue our study on the unit  Plant Traits and Survival, where we will complete our discussion of what baby plants look like when they grow up.  We will then discuss why trees don’t always blow down in the wind.  In Social Studies, we will continue our study of the unit on Living and Working in Louisiana, where we will focus on Goods and Services, as well as Producers and Consumers.                                                                                                                                                                                         

Homework: *All homework must be completed at home and turned in the next day!

Monday- Write spelling words 2 times and math worksheet. Reading worksheet (parents sign)

Tuesday- Write spelling words 2 times and math worksheet. 

Wednesday- Write spelling words 2 times and math worksheet. 

Thursday- Write spelling words 2 times each and math worksheet.

Friday- ELA, Spelling, and Math Test

Spring Break- March 23rd -27th
