Objective and skills for the week:

• In this section, students read informational texts to develop an understanding of Hurricane Harvey and its impact on Texas. Students connect to previous learning by comparing and contrasting the ways in which Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Katrina affected people and communities. Students also develop an understanding of how informational text features support the reader’s understanding of key ideas, and compare and contrast the ways in which first- and second-hand accounts of the storm convey similar and different information.
