Phonics sounds & skills: ew, ui, ue The vowel team EW comes at the end of a word like in flew and grew. UI comes in the middle of a word like in suit and juice. UE comes at the end of a word like in blue and Sue.
Irregular/High Frequency Words: Students will use words in sentences on the test.

Comprehension skill: Theme When an author writes a story, he or she is often trying to tell readers something. Every story has one “big idea” or “meaning” Good readers think about what that big idea is so that they understand what the author has written. You can use something from your own life to help you understand the big idea.
Conventions skill: Adjectives- words that tell about nouns. Adjectives tell what people, places, animals, and things are like. They can tell color, size, shape, and many other things. Green, big, and round are adjectives.
Math skill: We will understand that the digits of a two digit number represent tens and ones. We will organize ten ones into a group of ten. We will express 10 ones as 1 ten or 1 ten as 10 ones. We will identify and write multiples of ten in terms of tens and ones.
Social Science/Social Studies Skills: In Social Science, we will begin our unit on Plant Traits and Survival, where we will learn what baby plants look like when they grow up. In Social Studies, we will begin our unit on Living and Working in Louisiana, where we will focus on Consumers and Producers-Wants, Needs and Choices.
Homework: *All homework must be completed at home and turned in the next day!
