 Spelling Words

Phonics sounds & skills: short vowel a, e, i, o, and u sounds. We will also review consonant sounds. We recognize rhyming words. We will isolate sounds, blend syllables, build and decode words. 

Irregular/High Frequency Words: Students will use these words in sentences on the test.

Comprehension skill: character (a person or an animal in a story) & setting (where and when the story takes        

                                        place)   We will identify the characters & setting of stories.

Conventions skill: Sentences (a group of words that tells a complete idea; every sentence begins with a capital 

                                  letter(uppercase) and ends with a punctuation mark.) 

   Math skill: We will apply math knowledge to make 10.  We will solve addition word problems within 10.     

     We will solve take-away subtraction problems within 10 using pictures or objects.

Social Science/Social Studies Skills:  Social Science:  We will begin our study of Parent and Offspring Traits, where we will make observations of baby animals with their parents.  Social Studies:  We will begin our study of Unit One-A Place Called Louisiana, where we will be learning about using maps and how maps are important to us.  

                                                                                                                                                                                                  
Homework: *All homework must be completed at home and turned in the next day!

Tuesday- Math worksheet

Wednesday- Write spelling words two times each

Thursday- Math worksheet. 

Friday- ELA and Math Test
