9 weeks' test will be given on Thursday and Friday.  A list of skills is listed at the bottom of this page. 

ELA-   

Phonics: Oo and its short sound (like in hot)

Heart/Sight Word: no new words

Previously Learned:  the, I , and, a, is, as

Writing: Nouns, capital letters, and punctuation

Reading: Story: no new story

                Skill: characters 

Math-  adding 1 more

Social Studies-  Unit: “Where We Live”  

                           Chapter:Exploring the United States

Science-  “Pushes and Pulls” 

A few notes and reminders: 

• We will go on a field trip to Broadway Farms on Tuesday, October 6th.  Students must ride to the farm with our class.  Your child may leave with you from the farm, but you must sign them out with their teacher first.  Only adults that are on the child’s demographic sheet will be allowed to take the child.  We will leave right after breakfast so please make sure your child is at school on time. 

• Fall break is Monday, Oct. 12th through Friday. Oct. 16th. 

Skills on the 9 weeks' test: 

ELA:

• write and identify the upper and lowercase letters: Aa, Mm, Ss, Tt, Pp, Ff, Ii, and Nn 

• know the sounds of:  Aa, Mm, Ss, Tt, Pp, Ff, Ii, and Nn 

• know sight/heart words: the, and, I, is, a

• blend CVC words such as sat and map

• identify the first sound in a word

• answer comprehension questions about a story (I will read the story to students.)

Math:

• count to 25 by ones

• write and identify numbers 0-5

• count objects to 5 and be able to circle the correct number

• compare groups and determine which group has more or less

• make numbers 3, 4, and 5
