BCS YEARBOOK
Welcome to the BCS Yearbook page! Here you will find information about ordering a book, view photos, or watch videos.
On the "Info for Seniors" page, seniors can find information about senior ads, portraits and submitting photos for the senior video.
First year students will learn the basics of writing for journalism, beginning photography, and graphic design. Students on yearbook staff are given opportunities to excel in one of those three areas. Based on student work ethic and abilities, students are given the job of writer, designer, or photographer.
Writers create the written content of the book including headlines, sub-headlines, stories, and captions. They also interview sources to create this content.
Photographers take all photos in the book. They attend school events, in and out of school. Photographers should have transportation available to them to be able to go to these events.
Designers create the templates for all pages. They also place all images and text on the pages using online yearbook creation software.
Being on yearbook staff is a privilege and responsibility. Former Beekman Chronicle staffers have gone on to work on college yearbooks and create their own photography careers. In 2020, our yearbook staff was been honored by our publisher, Herff Jones, by being published in their "best of" publication, Portfolio. This honor is bestowed upon only a select group each year out of thousands of submissions. We strive to continue and improve upon that level of excellence.
Yearbook students should be creative and self-motivated. If students are unwilling to put in time outside of school working on yearbook, they should not request the class.
Lots of people want to take pictures, but it's much more than that! Students interested in being on yearbook staff should show an aptitude in writing, graphic design, and/or photography. If you are interested in being on yearbook staff, you may email Mrs. Schmitz (yearbook@beekmancharter.org).
When scheduling classes, the name you should request is "Digital Media." This class is open to high school students only.
