JGMS Wildlife Diversity in the Elm Brook Conservation Area
JGMS Wildlife Diversity in the Elm Brook Conservation Area
JGMS STEM has started the Wildlife Diversity in the Elm Brook Conservation Area project for our communication system unit. Students will learn the following standards:
7.MS-ETS3-1 identify the components of communication systems (source, encoder, transmitter, receiver, decoder, and storage)
7.MS-ETS3-2 compare the benefits and drawbacks of different communication systems.
We will use cellular-connected trail camera as examples of a communication system with a source, encoder, and transmitter being the trail camera and the receiver, decoder, and storage the strikeforce cloud based storage.
In addition to the communication frameworks, this project also address the data collection and analysis framework 7.MS-ETS1-4.
Students will review the data (photos and videos) weekly and use the images to track the number of times they see various species of wildlife.
