WHEN STUDENT ATHLETES TAKE A BUS AND ARE GOING HOME WITH AN ADULT
Athletes cannot try-out, practice, and/or participate in any RAL sport without a current physical. Physical exams provided by a physician are valid for two (2) years based on the actual date of the physical exam. Physicals provided with athletic sign-up paperwork and/or that are on file in the Athletic Department must cover the entire timeframe of the current season in which sports participation occurs.
Please Note: Athletes shall provide the Nurse’s Office a current copy of the physical exam.
All students trying out for the following sports must have an ImPACT™ baseline concussion test prior to trying out. Affected sports are soccer, field hockey, girls' volleyball, basketball, spirit, wrestling, coed volleyball, baseball, and softball.
Baseline concussion tests are valid for two years.
The school will provide opportunities to complete baseline concussion testing prior to tryouts for each athletic season (Fall, Winter, and Spring).
Athletes and parents will be notified of concussion testing dates and times at least two weeks prior to the testing window.
All athletes are expected to complete testing within the assigned testing window.
Any athlete who is unable to complete concussion testing within the assigned window must arrange an alternative testing time with the Safe Sports Network. Please call 603-627-9728.
The Ross A. Lurgio Student-Athlete Handbook serves as a comprehensive guide to the school's athletic philosophy, prioritizing personal growth, sportsmanship, and academic excellence within the competitive Tri-County Athletic League. The document outlines essential logistics—including tryout criteria, seasonal sport offerings, and communication protocols—while establishing a clear Athletic Code regarding attendance and behavior. Notably, the handbook features a robust Concussion Protocol that integrates both academic and athletic recovery to ensure student safety. By detailing expectations for academic eligibility, playing time, and the care of school facilities, the handbook provides a transparent framework for students and parents to successfully navigate the middle school athletic experience.
