NotebookLM is a core service of the Google Workspace Suite of tools. Think of NotebookLM as your personalized AI study partner. Unlike chatGPT, gemini, copilot or other genAI tools that searches the whole internet for information, NotebookLM focuses strictly on the sources that are provided in the notebook. It helps you make sense of information by providing flashcards and quizzes to help study, allow you to ask questions to get clarification, and provide resources in different mediums dive into the content. NotebookLM is designed to be a tutor, not a shortcut; it helps you connect the dots and master the material yourself.
NotebookLM, in the bedfordnhk12.net domain, is an approved tool that does not train on any data. This is a safe space for students to interact with genAI in a way that can supports their learning. NotebookLM is a tool in the toolbox.

Middle Column: Chat conversation with NotebookLM to help get questions answered. This chat conversation should be used as a tutor to help guide your learning, not do the learning for you.
Right Column: Supplemental resources that have been added to the studio. These resources can be flashcards, practice quizzes, videos, audio files etc.

Teachers who decide to share a notebookLM with students will appear on under the classwork tab of Google Classroom under a menu called Classroom Tools.
Below are quick 90 second or less videos walking through the process of how genAI can be used to support learning, but not do the learning for the student. We recognize that all learners don't learn the same way and providing different avenues to support learning is important.
In some classes, a teacher might provide a notebook relating to a particular unit or topic.
Students must always keep in mind that teachers are assess their own learning, not what genAI produces. There is a time and place when genAI can and should be used.
