Recording Interviews and Getting Transcripts
Recording Interviews and Getting Transcripts
At times, you might be asked to conduct an interview with an adult or fellow student. There are a couple of ways to make this happen. Regardless of the approach, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you always get permission to record a conversation prior to recording. They must be fully aware the purpose of the recording that you are conduction.
For those students who want to use the voice memo app that can be found on a mobile device, students have the ability to have a transcript be provided from the conversation. Steps on how to make this happen can be found HERE.
In terms of proving conversation and providing evidence, students should upload the audio file into their google drive. They can hit the three dots to the audio recording on their phone, and then follow these steps
Choose Share
Select Google Drive
Add the audio file in their school drive account
Go to chromebook
Select the recent folder and right click on the audio file just uploaded
Change sharing permissions to anyone with the link can view
Copy link and paste with the transcript document for proof that they did do the interview
Keep in mind, if the audio recording is long, it will take some time for google drive to actually render the file and play.
Alternatively, students could use voice typing right in a google document. This video walks through the process of using voice typing on a Google Document.
