Welcome to the BHS IB Website!

At Bedford High School, any student may enroll in IB classes. About 70% of BHS students take at least one IB course by the time they graduate.

IB classes emphasize depth of understanding over breadth of content knowledge.  In fact, most IB courses and assessments focus on the learning process, critical thinking, and writing, rather than just content.

BHS offers 17 IB courses allowing BHS students to participate in the IB Diploma Programme no matter their academic goals.

Thank you for visiting. If you have further questions about the IB Diploma Programme at BHS, please email Corinne O'Connell, IB Coordinator at oconnellc@sau25.net

What is the IB Diploma Programme?

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepare students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students.

IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
