AP Exams occur every year in May. Students wishing to take AP Exams must register for them in the fall, typically by the end of October.
Exam registration involves two separate processes:
Completion of Google Form: this allows BHS to process your registration, collect exam fees, and organize student data. The Google Form is located in the Google Classroom linked to this page.
AP Classroom: students must create a College Board account at myap.collegeboard.org and then join an AP Classroom for each exam they intend to take using a "join code". MyAP, AP Classroom, and join codes are explained below.
MyAP: The first step in this process is to create a College Board account at myap.collegeboard.org. If you've already taken the PSAT and/or SAT you probably already have a College Board account. Your College Board account should be unaffiliated with your bedfordnhk12.net account because it will accompany you throughout your academic career.
AP Classroom is an online learning platform used by the College Board to support student learning and assessment, and to facilitate AP Exam registration and score reporting. All students taking an AP Exam are required to join an AP Classroom for each exam they take. To do so, students are required to use a "join code":
If you are in a BHS AP class: your teacher will provide the join code. Using this code you will access your teacher's AP Classroom section and will have access to learning and assessment resources throughout the year.
If you are taking an AP exam and are not currently in a BHS AP class: a join code will be provided to you upon submission of the Google Form. You must use the join code to join a BHS "Exam Only Section".
Once you have joined your AP Classroom section(s), you will be automatically registered for your AP Exam. Your exam status will say "Yes".
If you are in an AP class but are NOT planning on taking the AP Exam, your exam status in the AP Classroom will be changed to "No".
You do not need to be in an AP class to take an AP exam.
If you plan on registering for an AP Exam and are NOT currently enrolled in an AP class, you will receive a "join code" upon submission of the Intent to Register Google Form.
At this time BHS can only provide AP Exam opportunities for BHS students and student residents of Bedford, NH.
If you live in another town/school district, please reach out to your local public high school and/or school district office before reaching out to the AP Coordinator at BHS.
If you are in a BHS AP class you are not required to take the official AP exam.
While all students in AP classes are encouraged to take the official AP exam, they are not required to do so.
Any student is permitted to register for an AP Exam, regardless of what classes they are enrolled in. Therefore, a student in an IB course can take an AP Exam in that subject. However, IB course work is not designed to specifically address AP material, and teachers in IB classes are not expected to provide class time to prepare for AP exams in addition to the IB exams, nor are their syllabi approved by AP (the only exceptions to this are classes named AP/IB in PowerSchool).
Conflicts between AP and IB Exams happen every year, and both the College Board and the IB have processes that accommodate and resolve such conflicts. There are two primary modes of addressing exam conflicts:
AP offers LATE exams: these occur the week immediately after AP exams end. Typically a student who has an IB and AP exam at the same time will take their IB exam as scheduled and register for the LATE AP Exam. This is the first option we utilize.
Move IB Exams: sometimes IB exams conflict with regularly-scheduled and LATE AP Exams. In these cases, IB allows us to move the IB Exam to a time earlier or later in the day. Because this requires approval from IB, this is the second option we utilize.
On rare occasions, we find students triple or quadruple-booked. Utilizing both strategies above we can typically resolve all exam conflicts.
