Ms. Levine

Staunton River High School

2020-2021

In Art 7 and 8, we focus on the exploration of creative processes. Using elements of art (e.g., color, form, line, shape, space, texture, value) and principles of design (e.g., balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, proportion, rhythm, unity, variety), students will investigate a variety of ideas, media, and processes for creating art. Through critical analysis, historical and cultural studies, and evaluation, students will determine how artists convey meaning visually.

Please make sure all seventh and eighth graders have a variety of art materials at school and home. These should include: pencil, eraser, fine tip black sharpie, ultra-fine tip black sharpie, colored sharpies, colored pencils and crayons, a glue stick, white glue, and a sketchbook.

About Me

Ms. Levine

My name is Ms. Marie Levine, and I have been teaching at Staunton River Middle School for a number of years. Before teaching art here, I taught 7th grade Pre-Algebra and 5th grade in both Bedford and Roanoke Counties. I am excited to meet each of my new students and will ensure that this year will be a masterpiece!

In addition to teaching our seventh and eighth graders, I will also be teaching all sixth grade art students at Staunton River Middle School. Therefore, I will be splitting my time between both schools daily.

It is going to be a unique year, and we all must remember, "Our attitude is our mind's paintbrush. It can color any situation!"
