5/25/2020 Update -
Hello Families,
Happy Memorial Day! It is hard to believe this will be the last week of school. I have missed seeing the kids each day and the year seems to have flown by! Thank you for your support during this journey, it is not how I thought the year would end. Please visit the update page to see this week's activities. This week our theme is fish! I will post a new story this Wednesday on the Class Dojo.
Remember to have your child practice writing his or her first and last name each day, practice counting and recognizing alphabet letters and letter sounds. Also, read to your child each day, (it is okay to reread favorite books!) If you had a favorite activity from weeks past, it is okay to go back and revisit that activity too!
We will have our last class google meetup on Wednesday at 5:00 PM, you will receive an invite in your email.
I will be at the school in the afternoons for the supply pick up, etc. I hope to see everyone but understand if the morning suits your family’s schedule. I have put together a little packet of some things to do over the summer. Also don't forget the zoom PTA meeting on Thursday at 4:00 PM.
Please reach out to me in an e-mail or class dojo message if you have any questions or concerns, or just want to say hello! You can also call the school and they can get ahold of me.
Have a great week,
Mrs. Cooper

4/6/2020 Update -
I have put together a resource packet and will have these available at the school tomorrow (Tuesday) after 10 AM. I have included some fun recipes, activity sheets and some resources for parents. Don't feel like you have to do everything at once . You can have your child pick out one or two activities to do each day. I will continue to look for fun activities and add them to our Class Dojo.
Please continue to read to your child each day. It is okay to reread favorite books multiple times.
Remember to ask open ended questions while reading and call attention to the title, author and illustrator. While reading have your child identify pictures in the book and ask them what they think might happen next.
Please contact me if you have any questions. I can be reached at my e-mail, by school phone, or here in the class Dojo.
Take care,
Mrs. Cooper

Hello, my name is Mrs. Cooper.
I teach the preschool classroom here at Otter River Elementary School. I am looking forward to an exciting 2019-20 school year!
This will be my 19th year teaching preschool here at Otter River! I received my undergraduate degree from West Virginia University at Parkersburg and my master's degree in special education from Lynchburg College.
My husband and I have one son who is a sophomore at Jefferson Forest High School this year. In addition to our son, we also have 2 dogs and 4 cats! I enjoy sewing, stained glass work, and gardening in my free time.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
