Teacher Bio

Hello, and welcome to the 2020-21 school year! My name is Chase Deaton, and I will be your English teacher this year. I am thrilled to finally have students back and I can't wait to get back to teaching and learning. I just wanted to provide a short biography to give you all some information on myself since I won't necessarily be seeing everyone face to face all year!

I am originally from Hampton, VA, but moved to the Bedford/Vinton area around 2nd grade. I went to both middle and high school at Staunton River up until my senior year, so I am no stranger to being a Golden Eagle! Many of your other teachers were my teachers as well! This is my second year officially teaching at SRHS, but I have been involved with Boys Soccer and Football for around 4 years now.

I am an alum (Class of 2020) of Ferrum College in Ferrum, VA. I received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Secondary Education. During my time at Ferrum, I interned in Franklin County Public Schools. I also played football at Ferrum College!

You will hear it 100x times, but this year will be unusual and often times difficult for all of us. Despite this, I will always do my best to assist any of you in anyway that I possibly can.
