Congratulations to Brandon Briggs, Bedford High School senior and soon to be graduate!
Brandon is in his 3rd year in the Marketing Pathway at BHS. Recently, Brandon earned first place in his sales competition at DECA regionals with his idea of mobile talent shows to raise money for the arts.
Brandon is a spaghetti - pizza lover, and he needs all those carbs in order to fuel his passion of dance and theater. His moves can only be detailed as epic - James Brown epic.
Brandon will be attending the University of Akron to study Theater and film study in the fall. He said this project taught him, "...how to construct a business plan and all of the components to make it become successful."
From Mrs. Kirin... the amount of growth you have demonstrated this year is remarkable. High expectations always!

Congratulations to Austin Luke, Bedford High School freshman! The youngest of my Strategic Entrepreneurship, Austin is a true scholar!
When Austin isn't busy crushing his courses, he is busy being a member of the Yearbook Staff, Marching Band, Jazz and Blue Band, Musical Pit and Student Senate. You can definitely understand his inspiration for his project -- flipping pages is quite a pain for a musician like Austin!
Not only is his music eclectic , so is his favs in food. His favorite food is Cookies and Cream ice cream, Soul Food and Chicken Alfredo. His plan for after high school is to go to The University of Akron to study Music Composing and go to trade school for Home Construction. I want to build my dream house and work as a framer.
Austin says this project taught him, "...that creating a brand/ product properly takes A LOT more that I thought." Congrats Austin!
From Mrs. Kirin -- you treated this year like a boss! High expectations in the future!

Congratulations to Marquise Moore for his amazing idea for his ProQs and his pending graduation from Bedford High School. Marquise didn't need to take "Strat E" to finish his pathway or graduate. He didn't because he has a true thirst for always making himself better and equipping himself to be the best.
After graduation, his plans are to go to Lakeland for a year and play college baseball. He would love to transfer to North Carolina A&T and continue his baseball career and major in Financial Advisory. He would love to live in the North Carolina, South Carolina area.
What has he learned from this process? "What I have learned is there is tons of things you have to consider before becoming your own boss, it is more than you think, but it is also tons of fun."
From Mrs. Kirin -- Best wishes in this game of life... you've got this!

Congratulations to Michelle Rawlings, BHS junior and new marketing student. Michelle is always the first one to class and comes to class with a smile -- at 745am! She loves to laugh, and of course, she loves pets. She used this love of animals to design her product The Paw Clipper. I am waiting for her to bring it to market so I don't have to take Phoebe (dog) and Bad Judah (cat) to the vet to get their nails trimmed! Let's go Michelle!
Michelle is a member of DECA and the BHS Color Guard. After high school she want to attend college and study business. Her favorite ice cream is cookie dough (yum) and her favorite food is steak snd shrimp. I think dinner is in order after all this hard work!
What did she learn this project? "What I learned from the Believe in Ohio project is that there is much more to entrepreneurship owning a business and it takes hard work and dedication to own a business."
From Mrs. Kirin -- character definitely counts in business and you are way ahead of the curve!

Congratulations to Joshua Edwards! Josh is a Marketing Pathway senior grad who has jumped full in to the pathway this year. Of all the ideas ever pitched in BHS Shark Tank, Superscape is one that could really be brought to life. So, let's show him some money! Josh is a reader and a lover of knowledge, so this project was right up his alley!
At BHS, Josh is a DECA member and an athlete. In his first year he was state qualifier and took FIRST PLACE at states, a three year golf team member, and a four year baseball player.
Outside of enjoying Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, Josh is passionate about is buying, selling, and trading sneakers. He says "I have learned a lot of things from this Believe in Ohio project. I have learned how to conduct, and interpret primary research. In this school year I have learned many things about marketing, and entrepreneurship, this year I have learned so many things it’s hard to put it into words." After high school Josh plans to go to college and major in finance and work in real estate or a hedge fund management.
From Mrs. Kirin... it's hard for me to "put into words" how much you will be missed! Great work.

Congratulations to Amanda, a sophomore at Bedford High School. Amanda scored the highest point value on her business plan from a judge with the Believe in Ohio program (fellow business teacher).
Amanda may be quiet, but her business plan has a big voice! She is passionate about helping others, and she likes vanilla ice cream and french fries -- hopefully, she doesn't put ketchup on both.
She knows her future plans include university, but she doesn't quite know where or what she wants to be yet (me either!). When asked what she learned through this process, she said, "I learned to never give up and even when it seems like you can not be a certain thing you just have to try because when I first started this project I felt like giving up but I didn’t and it paid off. I also learned a lot about being an entrepreneur and that it takes hard work to come up with a feasible product."
From Mrs. Kirin -- Great job never giving up! You got this.
