"I created this artwork experimenting with digital mediums using procreate. Depicted is a person with their hair twisted into twin horns, with round glasses and large eyes. I used green to convey mischief, but also to experiment with colors I don't usually use. I used mostly flat colors, solid cell shading and dark lines to achieve a comic book feel. The dark line art helped to convey shadows, especially in the hair and add a sharpness to the piece. I created it with the intention of creating a fun character that hopefully I could expand on and incorporate the design into more complicated pieces by having a simple but captivating concept to work with." - Nina Harvey

"I created this using google sheets. The big idea behind the art was to make a unique design that represented the theme of love vs. hate. My goal when I was creating it was to make each word pop out of the background and very different and something that you would not have ever probably seen. "The title of my work is “Heartbreak Portal”. The inspiration of this piece are my past problems and seeing people around me hurt about relationships. My work expresses a social and personal issue. The emotions I wanted to show in my piece were heartache and sadness in one big picture. My goals as an artist are to step out of my comfort zone and create things I didn’t think I could and reach to a bigger audience and speak through my work. This piece helped me reach part of my goal because I didn’t think I could even do something like this. Some things I learned while creating this piece are that your mind stops you from doing things you want to do at times, also that if you make yourself believe you can or can’t do it that's the outcome of your project and last but not least the more patient you are the better your work is. The final piece is not what I imagined, it’s better than what I imagined. This piece will influence my future artworks by letting me know that everyone has a voice but they speak in different ways and that as long as I see it with my eyes and heart I can get the product I want or even better." - Aiyana Jones

"My inspiration for my artwork is this anime character named Izuku Midoriya. His art inspired me to draw him. I used a blue crayon because at first I wanted to color it halfway through then I realized it looks better just in pencil. So I did everything in pencil. I did a lot of shading for his hair and forehead. This artwork was my first time drawing an anime character and I always wanted to do it. So by me completing this art and it coming out the way it did, has proved to me that I can draw anime characters. This did not come out the way I imagined but it still came out good. "My artwork is hands touching and as they get closer to each other you can see that one has germs on it. The tools I used to make this picture were pencil, markers, and crayons. My work actually does express social issues because as we all know we're going through this COVID-19 pandemic. It shows that people have to be cautious of who they are around because they don’t know what type of viruses they have in their bodies, let alone their hands. My goal as an artist is to not only show the people what I’ve created but let it be known what’s the whole meaning behind it. I feel that every artist has a meaning behind their work.
