It’s no secret that accessing live performance is vital to inspiring, exciting and developing our young performers and designers. Live performance not only entertains and enthrals us, it fires up our imaginations, it excites us with new ways of thinking, and challenges us to reflect on how we interact with the world.
We are often asked by parents how they can best support their budding performers and designers in realising their creative ambitions and supporting their programme of study. The answer almost invariably includes the encouragement to see more live performance; see a range of performance styles; engage with a breadth of different art forms; encounter work conceived in the past; explore the work that reflects our present; seek out the work that is challenging the future of the art form; and find the work that excites you as a creator, a performer, a designer and an artist.
We encourage parents and guardians to explore these links with their child to find Performing Arts events which appeal to their wider interests and that are appropriate to the student's age.
May 2021:
This year has been a challenging one for our Performing Arts Community. However, our students have risen to the challenge and continued to create and flourish. We still may not be able to have public performances for a little bit but that has not stifled our creativity.
We continue to invest in our Students and have made the National Theatre Collection available to all in the Bede's Community via the Drama Online Catalog.
We will continue to create, to be inspired and to flourish despite the ongoing adversity we face.
