Meet our friendly and knowledgeable staff! We want to see you reach your goals, which is why we have created a team of experienced professionals to help you on your way. In addition to an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Registered Dietitian, our entire team has (at a minimum) a Bachelors of Science Degree in Athletic Training, Dietetic and Nutrition Studies, or Exercise Science. Many also have Personal Training Certifications and are continuing education throughout their career with us.
Joe Palko, OTR/L ABDA
Joe founded Core Rehabilitation in 2008 with the goal of providing clients with sport or orthopedic injuries the best rehab program to return to their sport or activity that they love. He has treated more than 1,000 athletes, from the ages of 12 to 80. He believes there is no age limit to be able to participate safely and effectively in sports. Joe is an avid golfer and has brought his passion for golf to the therapy treatment floor by getting certified as a Functional Golf Specialist. When he isn’t on the therapy floor or in the fitness center you can find him hunting, fishing, or golfing.
Michael "Mick" Machek , DPT, L
Mick Machek is a Physical Therapist with over 30+ years of experience. He is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University, with cum laude honors. Mick is a very modest physical therapist, he likes to let his work speak for itself. What we will tell you about him is that he is an expert at understanding each individual and how to help them achieve their goals. His motto is to treat the person not the “textbook.”
Lew Krasniak PTA, L
Lew is a Physical Therapist Assistant with over 20+ years of experience, having graduated from Keystone College. He holds a certification from the Grays Institute in applied Function Science. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1990-1998 as a Chemical Warfare Specialist and also served in Operation Desert Strom. When Lew is not in the clinic, you can find him enjoying the outdoors either hiking or camping with his wife and son.
Maggie Maurizio, CPT, Office Manager
Maggie graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training. She is also an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. She was a Division II collegiate softball player prior to transferring to East Stroudsburg University, where she completed hands-on experience as an athletic training student with collegiate and high school athletes in varying sports. She has several years prior experience working as an exercise therapist in a rehabilitative office setting, and has been working with both patients and members with us for over six years. Maggie spends her time away from work with her family.
Reahna Reid, Assistant Manager/Marketing
Reahna Reid brings a blend of operational expertise, community leadership, and marketing insight to Core Fitness & Rehabilitation. With a background in Community and Gym Management, she has honed her skills in creating welcoming, efficient spaces.
A fitness enthusiast with a CrossFit background, Reahna now channels her passion into lifting and spending time outdoors whenever possible. Since moving to Scranton in October, she has embraced her role and the local community with enthusiasm. When she’s not helping manage operations or leading marketing efforts, you might spot her hitting the weights alongside you at the gym. Stop by to say hello—she’s here to ensure everything runs smoothly!
Gavin Wallace, CPT
Gavin Wallace is a certified personal trainer who has been training since 2020. With accredidation from the National Council of Strength and Fitness, as well as expertise as a Head Trainer at F45, Gavin uses his acute eye for detail to push his clients towards their goals. Whether the goal is overall health, building muscle or preparing for a sport, Gavin aims to prescribe exactly what you need every time you walk in the door.
