Stop it at the Door

Every student or visitor will be asked COVID 19 related screening questions, thermal scanned and checked for any COVID-19 symptoms before boarding the bus or entering the school building daily.

Staff members will also be screened and scanned each day upon reporting to work.

Parents are also asked to screen, scan, and evaluate your students on a daily basis. If your student is sick or you fear they may be, please keep them at home. All Covid-19 concerns from home should be reported to the school immediately. We will do the same for concerns involving your student at school.

Face Coverings

Staff members will have face coverings and will be required to wear in many situations. Examples include but are not limited to food preparation, sustained close one on one teaching situations, bus driving and screening of potentially infected students. When outside or adequate social distancing is possible, staff members may choose not to wear face coverings.

Currently it is our understanding that students are not required to wear face coverings. We will encourage our older students to have a face covering that can be easily applied if they choose or find themselves in a close proximity situation.

Social Distancing

We believe that social distancing is perhaps one of the most important parts in a good safety response plan to COVID-19. We have made extensive plans and efforts in minimizing class sizes, classroom arrangement, splitting lunch periods into smaller groups and procedures for changing classes. We will be requiring social distancing for our students and ourselves. Please help us by stressing the importance of social distancing to your student.

Cleaning, Disinfecting and Electrostatic Sprayers

We have set up multiple layers of cleaning and sanitation procedures based on CDC guidelines.

Beckville ISD will use electrostatic sprayers daily to disinfect surfaces, high traffic areas and common touch points throughout our facilities and buses before each trip.

Handwashing and Sanitizing

Employees will train and require students to rigorously wash their hands for 20 seconds according to CDC guidelines. According to CDC guidelines, handwashing is the number one recommendation for infection control.

Students, employees, and visitors will be required to sanitize hands often throughout each school day. Beckville ISD has added over 60 hand sanitizing stations throughout our buildings and school buses. In addition, all classrooms and offices will have multiple hand pump bottles available to students at all times. Students are encouraged to carry individual sized hand sanitizer in their pockets or backpacks.

Training

As part of our employee back to school in-service, each employee will be trained to properly sanitize surfaces, wash/sanitize hands, social distance, thermal scan, question for COVID-19 risk and monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.

Please understand that the guidelines, requirements, and recommendations for opening schools this fall are changing daily. We will certainly update and revise our plans between now and the first day of school on August 13th. I wanted to share some of the preparations that we are making to ensure the safety of your student and make certain that we will be ready for another wonderful school year here at Beckville ISD. In addition, I wanted to invite you to reach out to me or any of our campus administrators with questions or concerns. Thank you for your help and continued support.
