#SunsetReads

WHAT IS #SUNSETREADS?

#SunsetReads is a school-wide literacy program to expand the reading culture at Sunset High School. Research shows in order to be college and career ready, high school students need to develop reading stamina. We want to prepare our students for the future.

Sunset High School is committed to make “choice reading” a regular part of the school day. Every English/Language Arts course requires students to read a book of their choice as part of the curriculum. The entire school community - including teachers, administrators and staff - are also committed to reading during homeroom 2-3 times a week.

Sunset is thrilled that every English/Language Arts teacher has a collection of choice books in their classroom, but we want every student to be able to find the “right” book for them to read.

That means 2000+ students need access to high quality literature and informational books every day. We need to expand both the fiction and non-fiction titles in our School Library to meet this demand.

If every family at Sunset High School donated money to purchase ONE BOOK (~$25) to the Library, we could really make an impact on our current collection and support the #SunsetReads program.
