The Nancy Ryles Innovation and Design Lab is our Makerspace! While we don't hold full classes in here (there's just not enough room!) we'll hopefully be hosting small groups in here, and we'll use all of the materials and supplies for projects in class! We have a wall FULL of building materials (and safety glasses!) We've got Ozobots, Dash and Dot Robots, Hummingbird Coding Kits, Lego WeDo, and a host of other fun activities. We'll be exploring electronics, we'll build rockets, we'll build bridges out of paper, we'll work together to learn something new and most of all have fun!
Yes! Nancy Ryles has a 3D printer! Our printer is a Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro, we'll use programs like Tinkercad to create our own 3D designs, or Thingiverse to print designs that others have already created. Also...it was the kids who voted and chose their favorite name!
So far we've used Thingiverse to find some neat things to print! Mr. Chung has used Tinkercad to design a mount for our simple electric motors the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders used. Students will soon be able to explore 3D design on their own!
