Make a small terrarium.  Share it with the class.       

Make a chart of poisonous plants and label them.     

Make a bird feeder and use it.  Tell what kind of birds you attracted.

Make a chart of a beehive or an anthill.  Tell what life is like in either society.                                                 

Make a chart of various foods and tell what nutrients are in them.  

Take your body temperature and pulse and your rate of breathing.  Exercise and then take the above.  Keep a record 3 times a day for at least 3 days.

Make a chart of teeth and label them.                            

Find out about your local water supply.  Where does it come from?  How is it purified?  Is the supply in danger of depletion?  Should anything be done to increase it?  Record your findings.   

Tell about the life of a tree from the time it sprouts from a seed.  You may use a diagram or words.

Make a chart to show the different way various fires are extinguished.

Make a compass.

Make an electromagnet.

Make a telegraph set.

Make a chart to show where electricity comes from.

Draw a prism.  Illustrate how it works.

Make a periscope.

Draw a picture of the eye.  Label the parts.

Write a story about an animal and have all characters be animals.  Make pictures or figures (example: clay) of the characters.

Clip an interesting action or mood picture from a magazine.  Write a short story about it.

Make a newspaper about your class, family, friends, or sports.  Have headlines, columns, dates, weather, etc.

Make a mobile.

Make and perform a puppet show.

Make a mural.

Design a park or playground.

Make a comic strip story.

Draw a time machine. Have it take you to a time you would like to visit either in the past or the future.  Tell what it was like in several paragraphs.

Invent a new sport.  Tell how it is played and what equipment would be needed.  Include the rules.

Pretend you found a box that was dropped with a parachute.  Use your imagination and tell what was in the box.

Tell the directions for making your favorite sandwich. Include illustrations in your directions.

Make a hand puppet out of a sock or material.  Have it tell a story, sing, or recite a poem.

Make a mobile of your favorite fairy tale and its characters.

Write a short report on how you would improve something at school.

Make a collage titled “Me.”

Make a list of 10 things you could do on a stormy day.

Make a list of 5 books for a person who hates to read.  Write 3 sentences for each book telling why he or she would like it.

Make a flip book of a series of action pictures from a story you like or from one of your own. 

Write a poem on any subject.  Be sure to title it.

Make a timeline of the 10 most important events in your life.

Make a diagram of your house.

Make a dot-to-dot picture.

Make a list of 25 words that begin with the same sound as the beginning sound of your name.

Make a collection of pictures or drawings that show what you want to be when you grow up.

Write 6 good things about yourself.

Draw a picture or cartoon about daydreaming.

Pretend you are ready to take a picture of something very special but you just ran out of film.  Describe the picture in such detail that we can picture it.

Imagine yourself as your favorite character from a book. What do you see yourself doing?  Tell in a paragraph.

Design a new toy.  Draw it and tell about it.

Use a potato to make a print.  Make a print picture.

Make a tissue paper picture.

Make a watercolor picture.

Draw a self portrait.

Make a finger paint picture.

You are the owner of a pet store.  Draw a display of 15 different animal cages.  Draw an animal in each cage having a label with the animal's name and its price.  On the back, total up the cost of all the animals together.  They must cost over $10.00 each.  Be sure to name your pet shop. 

Do a report on the most unusual animal you can find.  It must be 1 1/2- 2 pages long and illustrated.

Design a computer program of your own.  Bring the written program to show or if you have a printer, bring the printout.

Find out about a famous scientist (i.e. Albert Einstein) and write a brief biography that person.

Invent a new animal.  Have him/her be in his natural environment.   Write about your new animal.

Who was Robert Goddard?  Write about him.

Draw a maze.  Have a treasure at the end.

Where are the rainforests in the world? Show on a map.  Why are they disappearing?

Fill in all 50 states on a map.  Color neatly.

Make a chart showing 10 items.  Give ideas of how they could be recycled.

Draw a crossword puzzle.

Design a football, soccer, or some sport card of yourself.  Have a front and a back side.

List 10 ways to save energy.

Write a storybook, with illustrations and a cover, for a small child.

Do 5 nice things for your family.  Have a list of  what you did and have it signed by your parents.

Invent a game.  Make it and bring it in.

Make a three dimensional robot.  Give it a name and have a card telling what its functions are.

Design a poster that will tell other children of good and kind things to do.  

Plant a seed.  Keep track of its growth daily for 2 weeks.  Bring it to class.

Make 20 or more words from the word “ALPHABET”

Make a secret code.  Write 6 messages with it.

Draw the flags from 14 countries.  Be sure they are labeled and colored.

Describe one Native American tribe’s culture.  Make an example of their art.

Write about appropriate behavior if you were to meet a strange dog.

Write the numbers 1-10 in a foreign language.

Make a gift for someone.

Make a first aid kit for your family to use.

Make a paper sack mask.

List 10 things you could do for a friend.

Draw 6 different uses for a feather.  Be creative.

Make up 8 sentences.  Diagram them.

Design a jacket for your favorite sports team.  Show front and back.

Compose a song.

Write a story pretending you are in a cave.  Describe what it feels, smells, sounds, and looks like.  Write another story pretending that someone turned a light on in the cave.  Describe what you see.

Tell 12 different things you could do with one stick.

Draw a rocket.  Explain how one works.

See how many times you can bounce a ball and catch it without missing.  Do it twice a day for 3 days.  Make a graph to show your performances.

List 20 uses for a handkerchief.  Use your imagination (hint: a parachute for a mouse).

Design a car of the future.  In a paragraph, be sure to explain what fuels are used and how it basically works.  Be sure to name your model car.  Don’t forget to include color.

See if you can draw a hide-a-picture. For example make a forest and have hidden pictures in those pictures.  Be sure to list what you have hidden. Have at least 6 items hidden.

What is a "conestoga wagon" or a "prairie schooner"?   Draw one with color.

Design a cheer routine that a group could perform.  Diagram each part and/or step to the routine.  Bonus:  Work with others in the class to perform the routine.

Create a board game.  Be sure to include rules, playing pieces and, if necessary, a game board.

Make a rock collection. Using as many different sources as you can, identify and label each rock telling as much as you can about it.                                        

Make a model of the solar system.  You may use any material you want.  Be sure to have the sun.  Label all the planets.                                             

Write about the causes of the seasons.

Explain on paper about the lunar and solar eclipses.  Have a diagram of each.                                   

Write an imaginary story about a space trip.

Write a story about what might happen if the sun stopped shining on the earth.

Draw 8 constellations and name them.

Observe the moon for 2 weeks.  Record your observations.

Name 4 different kinds of storms.  Explain what happens in each and where they occur most on earth. (example: cyclone)

Make a pinwheel to see the changes in wind speed from day to day.  Record the changes for a week.     

Collect pictures to show different kinds of weather.  Tell how animals and people change their activities when the weather changes.                     

Make a chart to show the water cycle.                      

What are clouds made of?  How high are they? What kinds of weather  are they likely to bring? Illustrate.

Do any experiment and record it.  Show it to the class.
