Below are some ideas to keep working on social emotional learning skills, while school is closed.
We will be using the Sanford Harmony curriculum for our live Wednesday Wellness lessons.
Elmonica teachers and counselors educate students about emotional regulation through the Zones of Regulation curriculum. Your child is probably already familiar with the four different color "zones" which represent our feelings and emotional states. They will probably tell you that the green zone is the ideal zone (but it's normal to experience feelings in all the different zones).
We encourage students and parents to continue using the "zones" language at home, especially since we are all experiencing a wide range of feelings these days!
Check out this "Distance Learning Resources" page for ideas about using the Zones at home during this time of school closure. You'll find handouts, webinars, and a really long list of children's books which help reinforce the Zones concepts!
Which zone are you in today?
