Bio
Julia Lissman holds a Masters of Education as well as a Bachelors of Music Education from Portland State University. She is a former Violist for the PSU Symphony where she gained experiences performing with the Portland Ballet, China Forbes from Pink Martini, and was able to work with world renowned conductors. Julia has completed her Level One Kodaly certification, and student teaching with Dustin Hunley a Kodaly Method Expert.
In addition to working with the Oregon Repertory Singers, Julia has worked as a K-5 music specialist at Hiteon Elementary in the Beaverton School District where she conducted an after school choir, theater program, and 3-5th grade ukulele curriculum. Julia’s prior teaching experience include: Writing curriculum, leading lectures, and teaching for the Montessori Schools of North Portland, directing the Young Musicians Choir at First Presbyterian Church, and directing music for Portland Parks and Recreation’s Theater Programs. Outside of the classroom you can find Julia singing, songwriting, working on her next album of music, and performing at local Portland Venues. A 2021 composition was recognized by Bob Boilen on NPR.
