AVID
WHO IS AN AVID STUDENT?
AVID students are students in the academic middle, capable of completing a college preparatory path with support. These students often are not realizing their full potential academically. In the identification process a number of criteria are considered, including:
State test scores
Grades
Citizenship
Attendance
Desire and determination
first in family to attend College
Historically underrepresented in 4-year colleges
Economically disadvantaged
How to apply
Step 1: Pick up an application from your counselor
Step 2: Give the teacher recommendation form to one of your teachers
Step 3: Follow the instruction on the application about downloading upon completion.
Step 4: Teachers will submit recommendation forms to student's counselor
Step 5: Students participate in interview with AVID staff from Southridge OR may submit a video.
Step 6: Students will be notified of their selection to AVID in the Spring.
