Mrs. Wisniewski
This is my 16th year of teaching.
I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, all in Beavercreek.
I earned my Bachelor's degree from Penn State and my Master's degree from ACE.
I have 2 sons: Andy (12th grade at BHS) and Nathan (10th grade at BHS).
Beavercreek has been my home since 2002. I am involved with marching band, scouts, and the local running community, so you will likely see me around quite a bit. Feel free to say hi and join in on whatever fun we're having!

Classwork Policy: Classwork is expected to be complete, done to the best of the student's ability, neat, and on time. Students who are absent have as many school days as they were out to turn in work without penalty. Absent work turned in after that time, may receive a deduction of points.
Recess will not be a time to complete math work. I believe students need to be outside (or in the event of indoor recess, the ability to socialize and have a mental break) as much as possible and that recess is essential to their ability to focus and learn in the classroom.
Students will not be assigned math homework this year, unless they have IXL to finish for the week. They will be expected to turn in their work at the end of the class period for a grade. There should be ample time available in class for students to complete their assignments at school.
Please refer to ProgressBook for updates.
Test Corrections: Corrections may be made to any in-class quiz that was not open-note/open-book. There will be an announced due date for each assessment and late corrections will not be accepted. Students will earn half credit back for each correct answer. They should complete the corrections on a separate sheet of paper and attach it to the test or quiz, making no changes to the original test or quiz.
Math Help Suggestions:
Our routine in math is the same nearly every day:
Morning work
Lesson
Centers which include
T-Teacher: a small group lesson with me,
I-IXL: Students will have a weekly skills plan assigned for math. They will have time to work on it in math class and during I&E time. They should work to get their smart score to at least 80 and they are welcome to ask help. Students may work on IXL at home if they find that they need additional time.
M-Math puzzles: problem-solving, digital pixel art, math mystery, poggles math games
E-Ed: Our graded classwork on the Into Math Ed site.
Students generally have at least 20 minutes in class to complete the Ed assignment and are always welcome to take it home to finish it if they need to, but most students don't need more than 10 minutes to complete the work (about 7-15 problems, depending on the day). Much of our work is online, including daily Ed assignments, IXL, and digital pixel art.
If your child struggles with completing work on time, it would be a good idea to have them check the online agenda in google classroom each day and check it at home to make sure that everything is completed. The agenda for the entire week is posted by the time students arrive at school on Monday. If you would like to check that they have completed and turned in work, you can ask your student to show you their Ed (online math platform) and look at the Assignments tab for Assigned and Overdue work, their IXL, and their Google Classroom. Assignments in Ed MUST be turned in to get a grade, as I cannot see work in progress. It is better to turn in an assignment with a problem or two incorrect than to not turn it in at all. You can also check their scores there. ProgressBook is also a great way to keep tabs on your student’s progress. If you have any questions about any of these platforms, please let me know.
We have a quiz over our morning work on most Fridays. The morning work spirals through all of the fifth-grade standards throughout the course of the year, but I only quiz students on what they have already been taught in class. We have a test at the end of each module. Some strategies to help students to improve their test and quiz grades include:
Studying their morning work before the quizzes we have on Fridays
Studying their module reviews before we have module tests
Correcting their errors after they get tests and quizzes back for up to half credit back
