Homework Policy: Homework is expected to be complete, done to the best of the student's ability, neat, and on time. Homework will be graded on a completion basis.

Classwork Policy: Classwork will be due at the end of the class period. Classwork will be graded on accuracy. 

Recess will not be a time to complete classwork or homework. I believe students need to be outside (or in the event of indoor recess, the ability to socialize and have a mental break) as much as possible and that recess is essential to their ability to focus and learn in the classroom.  

DLR (Daily Language Reviews)- These are assigned on Mondays and worked on each day for the first 10 minutes of class. Students are expected to complete them to the best of their ability and then correct any errors when we go over them in class. Quizzes on Fridays are taken from the reviews. These are spiraled and will reinforce concepts throughout the year.  

Vocabulary- Vocabulary will consist of word studies and Greek and Latin roots and prefixes. Words and roots/prefixes will be given weekly along with their assessments. Additional work will be sent home for independent study in addition to our classroom lessons. Spelling counts for all vocabulary assessments.

Spelling- Students will be given a spelling workbook that they will carry with them to and from school. All spelling words/lists, along with the corresponding activities, are contained within the workbook. 

The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel- This is a podcast we will listen to on a weekly basis. It is a fictional mystery and covers our listening standards. Comprehension assignments will go along with the episodes.
