Some specifics and examples about respect.........
Having integrity--the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles and uprightness-- is super important. Academic integrity means you should not copy answers from friends or cheat on tests. It means doing your own work!! If you are not honest and you copy or cheat, you will earn a ZERO for the assignment and have a disciplinary consequence!
Be polite. Demonstrate respect. When speaking to me remember that I am your teacher not your buddy. That means you don't say things like.....peace out, cool, yeah whatever. Just think about the situation. Context (the how and when) matters. Ask yourself....am I being appropriate? No attitude, Please!!
If you have a question about something, ASK!!
If you have been absent, ALWAYS check in with me. Do not assume I will seek you out and fill you in on what you have missed. I won't. It is your JOB to be responsible for YOUR learning and what you have missed.
Always raise your hand when you have a question or comment. Do not yell out.
When you have a question, wait for natural pauses to raise your hand. When the teacher or another student is talking, do NOT raise your hand. Wait patiently until they are finished.
If you need to use the restroom, you need to ask permission to leave the classroom at the very beginning of class or the last 3 minutes.
When someone else is talking to the class your job is to ACTIVELY listen. You should never be chatting with a friend.
Stay AWAKE in class. You may not put your head on your desk.
Chrome books should remain under your desk or in your book bags UNLESS I have told you to get them out to use for class.
Keep the aisles open. Put your book bags and other stuff under your desk or as close to your desk as possible. People need to be able to walk down the aisles.
When you are absent, REMEMBER to check in with me AND to turn any work into the basket on my desk.
If I am absent and there is no substitute, you are to go to Google Classroom and complete all of your assigned work. You will NOT have a study hall, unless that is what is posted on Google Classroom. Sitting and doing nothing is UNACCEPTABLE! If you choose not to complete the assigned work, you will NOT be able to turn it in late.
Google Classroom, Google Classroom, Google Classroom!!!!! Check Google Classroom for ALL assignments and class info.
Late/Absent work will not be graded immediately. It will take a bit of time. Be patient. Please do not email me to tell me your grade isn't posted...I know.
It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to obtain and submit make-up work.
You need to write either ABSENT or LATE in the top margin of your paper when turning it in.
Late work will be accepted ONE day after it was due for PARTIAL credit.
Time equal to the amount of time absent will be given to complete make up work.
Students may be held responsible for projects/tests which are given on the day of return if the assignment was made prior to the absence.
Vacations/Extended Student Absence (This is school policy):
Students and parents who plan to take vacations while school is in session must notify the principal in writing at least 5 days prior to vacation for approval.
If a student is provided classwork prior to leaving on a vacation then the assignments are due the first day of return to school.
Any scheduled test that occurred during the course of the vacation must also be made-up on the first day a student returns to school, unless otherwise scheduled by the teacher.
Be an ACTIVE Listener--Focus, think about what the speaker is saying, and create mental pictures of what you are hearing
In class work is DUE in class and is NOT eligible to be turned in later. Make good choices. Do not sit in class and DO NOTHING. Use your time WISELY!
Neatness Counts!
All assignments need to be in blue or black ink or pencil
Label your papers correctly--Name, date, class period and student number goes in the upper right hand margin
All assignments must be legible.
Late work is marked --LATE--and placed in basket on my desk
