HISTORY & PURPOSE

In 2008, it became more and more evident that our student body was a tapestry of unique abilities and talents. BUDS was formed by students with special abilities and their typically developing peers along with a creative and motivated staff who designed opportunities for students to experience the quality of life they deserve. Our goals are to increase social skills through character development, recreation, art and everyday life experiences, while building awareness of others special learning and life needs. Over the course of 10 years, BUDS has been host to many special events all designed and implemented by the students. These include the Very Special Track and Field Day, the Annual Spring Musical and Art Show, Out on the Town Special Events, and the Holiday Gift Shop. This year we are focusing on recreation and leisure activities available within our community, while developing our social skills and daily living skills.

GOALS

*To increase social skills and recreation opportunities for students with disabilities

*To increase academic assistance for students with disabilities by their typically developing peers

*To increase tolerance and understanding of students with disabilities

*To develop strong character in our students at school, at home and within the community

SCHEDULE

BUDS meets once per month out in the community. Please see the Tentative Activity Schedule tab for more information. There will be a sign up link for each activity. Please sign up for each event so we can plan accordingly.
