2023 - 2024

Vision Statement

Incredible Minds believes that collaboration with students, families, teachers, and community partners will motivate our future leaders to improve confidence and self-esteem while providing a unique learning experience. We also believe that our efforts will equip students to become life-long learners and productive members of society.

Mission Statement

The goal of Incredible Minds is to provide enrichment activities that align to students' individual academic needs. We foster student-driven, independent learning to motivate student growth. We do this by providing one-on-one support, ongoing communication with the student, family, and teacher as data is consistently monitored and adjusted based on individual student progress.

Expanded Learning Opportunities Program

The Beaumont Unified School District’s Incredible Minds program provides a student academic choice, while strengthening their understanding of Reading and Math concepts to promote understanding, higher level thinking, and learning. Our educational program is staffed by passionate individuals who are excited to help students while simultaneously encouraging them to critically think and analyze information which will deepen their understanding of educational concepts.

School sites with students in 2nd - 8th grade will have Instructional Assistants who monitor student data and provide one-on-one support after school. The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) oversees the Incredible Minds (IM) program.

Guidelines

Enrollment Procedures: Students may be referred by parents, teachers, or other staff to partake in this program.

Days/Hours of Operation: Parents can select the days their child(ren) attend Incredible Minds. We recommend a minimum of three days.

Program Activities: The programs (DreamBox, Reading Plus, and Lexia) promote critical thinking and problem solving; targeted skill building, vocabulary and comprehension enhancement; one-on-one, group, and peer collaboration as appropriate.

Attendance/Participation/Early Release Policy: Students in elementary and middle school are expected to adhere to the designated time based on the signed agreement. If your child attended school, it is the expectation they will attend Incredible Minds on the days and times outlined in the contract. Your child is also expected to use the internet-based programs at home as agreed upon in the contract. If your child does not meet those expectations, he/she may be dismissed from Incredible Minds.

Student Sign-in Policy: Students enrolled into the first session of Incredible Minds must report to the IM room within 5 minutes of the dismissal bell. Students who attend later in the day must show up on time and be ready to work. Attendance will be taken everyday.

Student Sign-out Policy: It is important that parents are on time to sign-out and pick-up students at the designated location. A picture ID is required upon request by those overseeing your child’s safety. No adults other than those who appear on the emergency list in Aeries and the authorized sign-out form will be allowed to pick-up your child.

Late Pick-up Policy: If you cannot pick-up your child at their release time, please arrange for someone from your authorization list to pick them up. Ensure they understand their ID will be required to sign-out your child. It is also crucial to keep updated contact phone numbers on file so there is always a smooth transition for the child in the event we cannot reach you. If a child is not picked-up within 30-minutes of their release time and we have not been contacted, we will notify law enforcement. If you know your child will have a late pick-up, notify your site’s Incredible Minds staff immediately.

Emergency Procedure and Disaster Plan: In the event of an emergency or natural disaster, all children will be kept with the Incredible Minds staff until an authorized person can pick up the child. If the program must relocate to another facility, a note in a visible location will be posted for your review and communicated through Parent Square and ProCare.

Discipline/Behavior Policy: Please know this program is not a daycare or teen center. Students who participate in Incredible Minds generally want to do well. Students who are enrolled in the enrichment program are required to follow simple directions and the same behavior guidelines as during the regular school day. This includes but is not limited to being respectful of others and their property, and following all safety rules and procedures. We will always notify parents of emerging difficulties. If the child’s behavior is not immediately improved after communicating with you, you will be informed that your child will be dismissed from the enrichment program.

District Civility Policy: Our desire is to promote a harassment free environment for students, Beaumont Unified School District employees, parents, and the local community. If any staff member feels threatened or interactions are causing an unsafe environment, you will be reminded to reserve your behavior. If the behavior does not improve, you will be cited with Beaumont Unified School District’s civility policy, which can be found here, BUSD Civility Policy.

Dispensing of Medication During Incredible Minds: If it is essential for your child to receive medication during Incredible Minds, please ensure we are notified before your child begins the program. If there is a medical care plan on file at the school, a copy may be given to the IM site staff. We will attempt to work with the school site to use what may be provided to the child during the normal school hours, but you may be requested to provide additional medicines and/or devices to keep after school.

Withdrawal of Child From Incredible Minds: If you decide to withdraw your child from the Incredible Minds program, please notify the IM staff at your school site.
