His 9th grade teacher challenged him to write a story a month for extra credit, sparking his passion for writing.
He draws inspiration from real world challenges, such as his son's struggle with mental illness.
He holds a degree in psychology and drama from the University of California, Irvine.
He discovered that he was adopted as an adult, learning that his biological parents had put him up for adoption due to an interracial relationship they did not want coming to light. He has since met and developed relationships with several of his half siblings, even soon to be co-authoring a book with one of them.
He has also written for Pixel Perfect, the Disney Channel, Goosebumps and Animorphs.
