For decades, Washington High School has been the secondary education home to talented creatives, writers, and artists. Educators have helped spur the creative juices of WHS students over the years.
Thanks to former WHS English teachers such as the late Jim Ferrell, Susan Wellborn, and Cathy Cox, journalism and creative writing crafted by WHS students were brought to life in the award-winning high school literary magazine "Opus" and school newspaper, "The Pamlicoan Currents" .Through these publishing opportunities, many WHS alumni found a calling and voice that helped develop careers in the arts and writing fields. Although "Opus" and "The Pamlicoan Currents" are no longer in print, the written word is not dead at WHS.
This is the age of renaissance and re-birth of the arts at WHS and thanks to our modern technical abilities we are thrilled to feature a new generation's artistic works to a vast audience online.
